2025 Berkshire-Hathaway Shareowners Weekend

Berkshire-Hathaway stock closed May 2nd @ $809K per share.
Just another smashing record high for the stock.

We're back in Omaha, Nebraska over 40+ years for the annual extravaganza and umpteenth Berkshire meeting.

Will be posting a few photos over the weekend.....

Berkshire now owns 100% of Pilot Truckstops coast to coast now.....

If you were or are wondering if Berkshire-Hathaway stock has been a good investment, the following graph should clear up any doubts that one would have.

Graph is 1965 to 2024, and of course Berkshire-Hathaway is somewhat higher in price and performance.

*NOTE how poorly the S&P 500 Index has performed over the SAME time span:

Good job picking it up way back when :2thumbsup

I did not realize they owned Pilot.

That Jimmy Haslam, former Pilot owner, was an obfuscating seller, but a settlement was reached at the 11th hour before the court trial began.

Jimmy's Dad started the stations in East Tennessee. Somewhat similarly to Love's Truckstops in Oklahoma.
Humble one or two store beginnings - outrageous success stories.

More....Berkshire-Hathaway factoids:

I remember looking into buying it back around 1998/99 or so. Instead I picked up Amazon, made $40 or $50/share and then sold it:eek:.

Now I see where Warren has announced he is stepping down. Do you see where anything will change?

When the uncertainty of who or when the next CEO was removed, I view that as a big positive.

A photo of Greg Abel:

I'm pleased that a few hundred and a few thousand dollars invested has transformed into several millions of dollars over much of the same timeframe. That's America for ya!

Warren is 94 and has decided it is time to retire. But guys like him never really retire. I am sure he will be around in an advisory position until the drops dead.

I am friends with an advertising guy who is 95 and still goes to his office everyday. He could have retired long ago but is the best example I know of, except perhaps for Buffet, of if you like what you do you never work a day in your life.

Skid.... If you took some money with you then just cross the river and you can lose it all in a flash in the Iowa casinos! The Haymarket is fun but parking is a nightmare. Traffic there is rough, too, since it is 1880 roads trying to deal with 2025 traffic.

Here's another factoid about Berkshire-Hathaway's stock performance.
Even if Berkshire-Hathaway stock price dropped 99%, it would have still outperformed the S&P 500's performance since 1965.
Even 1% of Berkshire has bested the index that everyone thinks is so great.
That's awesomeness, friends...

That's excellent, as I doubt that the stock price will drop more than 65 - 70% once the loss of Warren Buffet from the company starts to sink in...

I thought all your money was moved to gold?

I guess on the internet anything is possible......

Clearly he knows what he's doing, especially his risk management. Lots of his huge wins were early on. If you look at a later time period like 2009-2024, he under performed versus the S&P 500.

Isn't gold-plate the same thing as gold?
