infinity puts on the pressure to BMW
anyone read the latest issue of motor trend labled "sport sedan face off"? Seems like BMW has got their work cut out for them with infiniti's introduction of their new G35, it beat the 330i in every catagory, even handling!!! (although on the tv segment they did state it could be due to the run-flat tires, since they got better readings before with the same car but differant tires). I guess when you sit at the top of the "performance luxury" car market too long without improving that much, someone is bound to catch up. You think BMW will put itself on top again?

Well, the G35's big torquey 3.5 liter V6 definitely helped bring it out on top of the Bimmer in the July '02 Road and Track sport sedan comparison test. That, and the lower pricepoint. If Infiniti could offer a destroked version (maybe 4.0 liters and 300 hp) of the Q45's 4.5 liter V8 and make a G40 with a 6-speed manual priced at under $45K, BMW would stand to lose some sales.
Also, the G35 is based off the Nissan Skyline platform. It's got performance credentials right there. -Sam |
