Unhappy One of my dogs died...

I got home today, and found my 15 year old dog dead. She was a beautiful white lab.

She was like a member of the Family, and she will be missed.

Her two adopted children. My other two dogs, will miss her.

Alon

I dont want to think how it feels. I have a 3 year old dog and she is half beagle, half golden retreiver and never want to picture something like that happening to her.

Sorry for the loss Alon.

Sorry about your dog. I think I remember which one she was.

It's always tough to lose a dog. My wife and I are awfully attached to 'PeeWee' our little weenie dog. I know it'll be a sad day when we lose her, but at least she's still young.

Alon, sorry to hear about your loss. My wife had never read any of the threads on the forum but happened to notice the heading. She is the all time champion animal lover and was saddened to hear about your loss. But all the nice responses cheered her up and has given her a new respect for this forum and it's members. We both hope you and your family will be okay.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I know how awful it feels. I shudder at the thought of when the time comes for my boys.

i am very sorry to hear about your dogs passing.
it always hurts to lose a pet we care so very much about.
pets are a large part of our families.

i'm sure you have a lot of great memories. she will always be with you.

i had to have a 12 year old cat put to sleep in jan, it was the hardest thing i think i've ever had to do.

we just recently had a stray adopt us

the older i get,the more my heart goes out to all animals.
i wish i had a huge farm and could take in neglected, abused, and homeless animals. a huge pet sanctuary.

see ya

peter

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. She was the adopted mother to our two male dogs, and she raised them from when they were puppies. Now that they have lost their mom, they are begging for more attention.

Its hard to go out and see them outside, playing, and she isn't around, coming over for her dose of ear scratching and head petting. She lived for that. Even in her old age, she would get excited when playing with a tennis ball, and throwing it a few feet for her and having her kind of jog over to it but slowly and gracefully, and grab the ball, bring it back and would fight to let you gett he ball back so you could throw it again. In her last days, she was more lively than previously, and I suspect it was her trying to show that she knew it was time.

She was asleep when she died, and was still a bit warm when I carried her to the car.

She lived a good life, and she is now with our other dog who died years ago. They are together again, and they are forever inscribed into our hearts.

We will miss her.

Alon

Something that is strange after losing a pet. For quite a while after the loss, you swear that you see them going around a corner, or dashing by out of the corner of your eye once in a while. Now yer gettin' me all lumpy bringing back old memories. Hug the boys extra tight. They'll help you more than you know. They have an uncanny link to how you're feeling.

My hearfelt sympathies to the loss of your furry family member Alon. If my wife read this forum she would feel the same.

We lost all three of our Chow Chows within about a three year period. The last two died almost exactly one year apart. While the last one was still living we adopted two Lab/Chow mutts from our local shelter. A year later we were suckered into fostering the sweetest "we don't know what the hell she is" puppy in which we wound up keeping (sucker!).

People say that raising children is hard. I think owning pets is harder due to the fact that in all probability you will outlive your children, but not your pets.
