finally saw 500e in the flesh for the first time

I was driving around in houston the other day and noticed there was a 124 up ahead. I quickley floored it so i can catch up with him cause this didn't look a normal e class. I noticed the hunkered down wide tired stance from behind. As I got closer I noticed the flared fenders. It was a 500e in showroom condition. It look like a 93 cause it still had the 92 hood/ grill, tailights. ect. It looked completly stock and had some old gray haired man driving it. The 500e/e500 is definetly the best looking 124 out there. I know this is no biggie for some of you guys, but I thought I would share this . I've seen M5's, e55's, ferarri's, lamboghinis, nsx, 911 turbos, rolls royce, bentleys, vipers, prowlers on the street but the 500e has got to be one rare piece of machinery.

I dont know if Id say the 500E is the best looking W124 out there...what about the AMG HAMMERS? I would agree that the 500E is a really sexy looking car. They are both probably the best looking w124 out there. What's weird...I have a friend in california who never sees 500E, or w124 E500s, but just today, I saw one, well it was my friends, but I still saw it at the stop light, super clean car. And I see them all the time, but some people never see them Kinda strange I guess.

I was on my way home from work last Friday in my W124 and spotted a black W124 heading in the opposite direction...as it got closer, I could see the telltale flared front fenders..."a 500E", I exclaimed excitedly. Never saw one in person before then...

Sometimes when you see a regular unmodified W124 it looks tall and "cute" in its own little way, I have one I know. BUT then when you see a 500 it looks so well composed, lean and mean, low to the ground and just plain elegant (complete oxymoron I know but thats what you see). Like a great White shark cruising amongst other oblivious fish Hate to meet one when its hungry

until 1996 of so, ...all I knew about the 500e was that it was "THE TOP OF THE LINE 300E": it looked fast, had a cool interior, and was very much 'out of my league'

knowing nothing else but this in those days, maybe we spied a 500e once or twice a year here in the SF Bay Area -- and we drooled over it every time- admiring it as long as possible

Today, I frequent a few areas here in N Cal where 500e/e500's come out on the weekend.......and i still droll over them every time- admiring them as long as possible!

I passed a guy in a 500E going the other way on a divided road - both made eye contact and almost broke our necks looking at each others' cars as we passed!

I've only seen 3 here in Dallas in the past coupla years.

I also got chased down on Midway driving home from the airport by a guy in an E55. We talked at a light and he asked if my car was for sale. Told him I'd trade if he threw in a little extra cash!

I still catch my self saying, "That car is bad a$$" every time I walk up to her.

All of you Guys (who have not already taken the plunge) owe it yourselves to go out and OWN one!

I can truely say this car deserves to be owned by true car nuts.........

....like all of you.

I think you all surely qualify. It might be trade-up time for some of you?

p.s. If you need more prodding and reminding, read or reread Lee's Drivers Impressions on the Cars link up top.
