Cheep 280SE ?
I realize the most expensive Benz is a cheap one. BUT....
I have a line on a 1980 280SE that I may be able to snag real cheap, like under $500.00. I bought a parts car for my Audi Coupe (no one in my area has any in the wrecking yards anymore) from a fellow near me. He buys cars from auctions, has a friend/mechanic fix 'em up a bit and sells them on the side to make a few extra bucks. He has this Benz, but his mechanic doesn't know anything about Bosch fuel injection. It'll start, but soon floods out and dies. He was going to ask about $2500. He said to make him an offer. He just wants to get rid of it now. Does this sound like a typical problem for these? Any ideas if it may be an easy fix? I did a search, and found a few similiar problems posted here in the past, but nothing exactly like this. It's got a clean interior and a few dents on the outside. Worst one is on the right side back door. Fairly rust free. If it doesn't sound like anything I want to mess with, but anyone else is interested, I'll post his phone number.

From what I've read, if this is the M110 2.8 liter that we're talking about, I think it had a LOT of head-related problems. Kind of a common theme in MB inline sixes, across the years.
It does make 185 hp, though.... -Sam |
