younger members, elnlighten me "pimpin" - or - "big pimpin" - what does this mea

I've been hearing younger folk throw around the term "pimpin" - but I'm not sure what they mean. Last time I checked pimpin related to reping ladies of the night while wearing outrageous clothing and driving a flamboyant car.

What does it mean today?

Snibble 10-18-2002 09:38 PM

"pimpin" means that something is "cool" in street talk. Another word for it is "phat". I would say "pimpin" is today's word for the 90's "cool".. for the 80's "radical!".. for the 70's "groovy".

"big pimpin" is the extreme version of "pimpin" :D :p

Snibble, thanks for the info! As I get older it's harder to keep on top of lingo of the youger generations, but I'm always curious. Thanks for the pics. Down here in LA there used to be a lot of rides like that. But now I think those same guys/gals are going for the 20+ inch chrome rims. I wonder if anyone has pics of hydraulics in an MBZ?

Big Pimpin came from Jay-Z's song Big Pimpin
I hear that a lot about my cars leather
Snibble is right It's like saying cool you also hear the word tight a lot to I'm sure.

"Radical"?? "Groovy"??? OMG. Anyone who ever uttered either of those words has no real reason to live.... "Cool" has been a mainline expression since at least the '60s.

Germanstar.. read my initial post carefully. ;) :p
I only used these words to give your older age group an understanding of what the "pimpin" meant.

BTW.. didn't know the expression "cool" is THAT old.

GermanStar 10-20-2002 01:20 AM

Snibble, I did read your post carefully, and was informing you that "cool" people did not utter those other words ever, although I'm pretty sure Mike Tyson says "groovy" all the time...

This post reminds me, Daddy Puff (?) stayed in my hotel a few weeks ago. Is he a wrapper? I think his girlfriend is called Jo-Lay. My friends were very excited, but to me it just meant room service was slow.

I always thought Puff Daddy sounded like a children's entertainer - reminded me of "Puff the Magic Dragon" - Like Master P - sounds to me like a little kid that's just learned to be potty trained.

"Mercedes...come here baby, you don't like how it gets hot and hazy in that Mercedes? You crazy..."-Puff Daddy, off of "No Way Out" (his first album).
