Unhappy

On a slightly different note:
I hate to think what terrorists in other parts of the world are thinking of this whole tragic mess. Are they watching and learning a lot about the way our police/ FBI/ Other Agencies/ Public handle these types of situations? What happens when many other "snipers" are let loose in our society to wreck havoc in possibly many cities at one time? Don't mean to be so bleak, but isn't it a possibility?

Unfortunately it is possible, It seems to be going on right now over in Israel with all of those suicide bombers.. I Just cant believe that some people would think that good can come of killing innocent people.. Sad........

Brandon,
Pretty crazy over in Isreal. I hate to think where our society may be in a few years from now. Sure, we have great advances in medicine, communications, etc. but is our quality of life going to be that much better a few years from now if all this escalates? Hate to be pessimistic!!

I think they got the right ones, from everything heard so far. There should be enough evidence to convict - hopefully in a Virginia jurisdiction where we have sufficient penalty in place for this type of crime.

It sure is a sense of relief.

So are they the SNIPER SUSPECTS or not? I was watching CNN last night and they said he's not the DC shooter, whatever that means. I also heard they are related to some shooting in Alabama. Douche bags

From all information the police have been telling on the news, it seems like they have gotten the guys. Just how many more involved remains unknown. It appears that the killing started from Alabama when John Mohammed shot two women in an ABC store and stole a credit card.

I just heard it on the news that they may not get the dealth penalty. At least not in Maryland. That would be really su*k. However, Virginia will probably impose their dealth penalty since one of the victims was killed there. No matter, this is going to be a long trial since so many jurisdictions are involved. I can hear my tax money being flashed down the toilet already

It is Sflori, I was worried about this: If the sniper were not to have made contact, how then would the police, public, and media have possibly tracked him down!? That seemed to unfortunately be the key to even getting started on finding the perpetrator. Anybody else?

I'm not sure how they made all the connections yet, but it seems to have worked out pretty well. The $10 million was supposed to be electronically transfered to a credit card, which was stolen in the Alabama killing. During the long break bewteen shootings, the suspects were visiting family in Baton Rouge. The Alabama killing occurred either on the trip to BR of the trip back.

The one statement the shooter wanted Chief Moose to make is the one that bothers me. The statement about having caught the shooter like "a duck in a noose". WTF is that supposed to mean, press is portraying that as some sort of Cherokee saying, I think it is something else. Perhaps the Chief, FBI or others are thinking the same, because they have not come out and said it the way it was meant to be said. They only mentioned it in one press release when they were attempting to reestablish contact, saying "you want us to say and do certain things, like say we caught the sniper like a duck in a noose, we don't understand please contact us".

I worry that the duck.noose thing could be a code to another team, located elsewhere, to pick up activities. This is my suspicion, gut feeling , nothing official to it. The hardened cynic in me expects something else to happen.

It is a little chilling to think of the impact that a trained and indoctrinated terrorist sniper team could have on a regional economy. Just think if the two were not doing stupid things to get themselves caught and if they had enough money for a network of vehicles and safe houses. They could range at will up and down the east coast, for example, and tear the whole place up pretty badly.

I think that this is realized and a lot of thought about "lessons learned" is going to take place. For one thing, witnesses describing vehicles near the scene are just about worthless.....

The tip that broke the case came from the sniper himself, who called the sniper task force hot line last Thursday and boasted about a past killing. He told investigators to look at an unsolved slaying in Montgomery, Alabama, authorities told CNN.
I guess he WAS a typical criminal...
