Exclamation behind the scenes - 190E 16V dash

In case you're interested in seeing what it looks like behind the dash of a 190E...here's some pix of my '87 16V. I haven't put it back together yet...waiting for parts.

Yeah, I've seen less intrusive ways of installing aftermarket dash speakers too.

PS If you need "spare parts", I'm selling an '87 16-valve as a complete working car in great condition!!

Wow Glen, you've really got her gutted. Doing it in your garage? I also see that it appears the crash sensor is disconnected, did you disconnect it to ease removal of dash parts?? If not, the connector (red one in pass side footwell) may be the source of the rattle.

Actually, the evaporator is accessible from the engine side...

Mike:
Mark was kidding about the rattle! My heater core let go recently...the seal on the inlet tank-to-core joint. Unfortunately, the entire dash needs to come out to get to it.

How accessible is it? I heard that it's a total pain in the rear. We have to replace one on the TE.

Oh, on a 124 the dash has to come out. But on the 201, the evap. is accessed from the engine side.

It lives!

Just a followup, I finally had some time to finish up the heater core replacement! It's all back together and everything works great. I also installed the height adjustment dial for the euro headlights...very cool feature!

Wow Glen,

You really do get into some serious trouble with your cars! Looks like you finished ahead of schedule. Are you planning on tackling any other projects with your free time?

Did you get rid of the rattle?

Hey Afshin...no rattles!

On the back burner is a Powerdyne supercharger for the 190E. I've had it for a year now and just haven't had the time to fab the brackets and plumbing. I'm hoping to find time during the holidays...

Yes, I need a new heater core on my 190e too, I was quoted a price of about $900, I haven't had time to look around yet but someone tell me there's a cheaper way. Right now the coolant has been rerouted to not go thru the heater core
