"new" headlight bulbs?

I am interested in getting those new "cool blue" headlight bulbs that came out. They make a light that is pure white and see many people putting them in these days. Anyone put it in a w126? What is the code for my standard bulb?

If you are still using the stock sealed beam DOT headlights, you can't replace the bulbs. You have to replace the sealed beam. They do have them in "cool blue" from Sylvania.

I put 'em on my 300CD before the I put the "Breitbandscheinwerfer" euro headlights.
The "Cool Blue" 6024s were pretty nice but the lighting pattern was still inferior at best to the E-Codes..

They really didn't help night vision at all...waste of money they were...

I'd get some E-Codes instead.. but that's me..

Good luck!

On my w126 I have the Euro lights:

I think I can change them easily?

Then you'll need to find Cool Blues in H-4 or 9003. 9003, according what I can find is an acceptable replacement for H-4's.

Wow, pretty car!

Anyway yeah... but then I'd stay away from Sylvania's cool blue. I'd try PIAA super white instead (maybe in 80/100 instead of 55/60).

I use Philips Vision Plus (55/60) H4's and they are pretty bright. However they aren't blue...

Good luck

I'd go with the Vision Plus. They're not white, but they're a lot more focused and brighter than the stock which came on the ML. I've had them for 30k miles now and they're still pretty bright.

I dont want something that will cost me alot...I will go to this Perfomance store today and find out if they carry these type of bulbs.

So its H4 or 9003? They are both the same? I remember that the bulb is shaped cylindrical with a nipple at the end coloured grey.

Those "Cool Blues" don't even look blue unless you wear blue shades. They are just whiter and I think I saw a post that they actually are not as bright as other bulbs. I had them and I just switched to the newer eXtra Vision's - they are less money and seem to be brighter (at least to my eyes). They also have newer, even more expensive bulbs but you won't get that much benefit unless you switch to euro lenses...

those bulbs are interchangeable.
the 9003 is the u.s. dot version of the h4. it doesn't put out as much light as the [same] h4.

if you want to by an h4 bulb, tell the parts people you need them for a motorcycle.

do you want the "blue light"effect or a good performance bulb?

sylvania siverstars are pretty nice [9003].
philips vision plus is a h4 that has [claims] 50% brighter than stock 55/60 watt bulbs.
i have these in my euro's and am very satisfied with them.

they came from www.powerbulbs.com

Is Philips Vision the brand that Partsshop or Fastlane carries? I have a set of W201 euros, but I have not installed them yet! I'm still looking for the right H4 bulb. Here's what I want. For the fogs (H3) I want a blueish reflection from the reflectors when the bulb is OFF, so I have "HID" super whites that are blue tinted. However, for my main (H4), I DO NOT want a blueish reflection when the bulb is off, so I am looking for a super white bulb that is clear. Some of you guys have recommended the Philips Vision, which is not tinted blue! Does Partsshop or Fastlane carry H4s for the W201 euro? What is the part number? Thanks!

welcome to mercedesshop!

prepare to be addicted.

i do not know what parts shop carries.

have you called phil to ask him?

i know the vision plus bulbs are technically "not" available in the u.s.
that sure doesn't mean you can't get them.

if phil doesn't have them go to the website that was mentioned a couple of times.

i have no idea about blue h3 fog bulbs.

are you sure you would want that color for fogs?

the whiter the light, the easier it "scatters" and won't shine "thru" the fog.

again welcome.

if you have questions use the "search" feature your questions may have already been answered.

so when I asked for the bulb at the counter I told him I need a 9003. Is that correct? I could check the bulb I have now but I had trouble last time putting back in so I didnt want to go through the trouble.

I dont care too much with having more light on the road cause the stock ones arent bad at all...I just want to get rid of that flat yellowish white look that stock bulbs give and put a bulb that has a bright white look to it with a touch of blue.

I saw the PIAA bulbs in the store but they were too much I was willing to spend on lightbulbs. I will wait till my next paycheque to get the bulbs cause I need the money now for my annual rustproofing.:D
