What brand of synthetic?

I generally make it a point NOT to reply to oil related questions but I'm curious to know what brand of synthetic oil is most commonly used. I don't really care where you buy it, why you chose that brand, or why another brand is better.

So...which brand do you use?

Hi Glen- hope all is well on your side...was wondering how your e500 felt (impressions) after the chain and rail guides were done?

faster? smoother>? quieter? cooler idling temps? anything notably different? mpg? anything/

tks-fad

re: delvac

I think that's covered under the brand Mobil1. I know there are other synthetics available as well, I just wanted to get a general idea of what people are using.

Thanks for the feedback

For my Mercedes, I don't use synthetic. I do use it on VW which has a 1.8 turbo engine. I use Valvoline Synpower 5w-40. It is one of the only oils to meet the ACEA A3 oil standard. The only Mobil 1 oil to meet this standard is 0W-40 (good luck finding it) and 15W-50.

Ever since I read that Mobil spends 3 times more than any other petroleum company into developing it's synthtics sold me. Now, I do realize that money is easily squandered and isn't always a true barometer of effciency/effectiveness, but it impressed me nonethless.

And the fact that nearly all European cars come from the factory with it

Regards,
- Ryan
