benz haters

Anyone ever feel people cut you off, tailgate you, or overtake you on purpose just because we drive a benz? I guess It would depend mainly on the areas where you drive . I mean wealthy neighborhoods where theres a mercedes on every corner wouldn't have this problem. I think it's kinda funny when you see a suv driver acting all cocky then when they see you pull up in a benz , it wipes that smirk off thier face.

I get jelous people looking at me all the time. A funny thing is.. this kid with a riced honda accord put his car in neutral and started reving... when the light turned green.. I floored and still kicked his ass using an 88 300sel. Thats right.. a 300sel! Pretty sad.

People in Texas drive like idiots, no matter what you're driving!

But, I get the impression that people view SUVs as slow moving, because I get cut off frequently when I am in the ML.

No real reactions when in the 300E.

But get on the highway in the SL, and EVERYONE wants to keep up with you!

I occasionally have an older person react either snooty towards me cuz I am young and driving a benz or the opposite, they give me respect thinking I must be a Highly intelligent individual to afford a benz at such an age. I like to think I am the later of the two. Here in the south benzes aren't quite as abundant as in california, lots of Suburbans and tahoes. But as soon as you drive over the bridge into Wrightsville Bch. Its yuppie city...lots of Expensive and prestigous cars and trucks...

I find people don't tailgate me as much in this car than others. I don't know whether it's because they are a bit more respectful or they are afraid if they hit me it will cost them more?!

A little over a year ago in Richmond VA, I had a guy actually say the following words, and I quote "....I don't see how you can be proud to drive a Hitler car." The real kicker was that I had just nodded to him with a smile about his very nice looking '65 Mustang.

Maybe because it's only a 190, which many people don't necessarily recognize as a Benz while driving, I've never noticed any unusual behaviour from drivers around me.

I've had 3 mildly negative comments from friends/aquaintances/family who feel that Benzes are too complicated and costly to repair. (None of whom have ever ridden in it.)

Most ironic is from my Brother-In-Law, who swears by American cars, and would never own a Benz.

Why is that ironic? He's from Stuttgart.

I make lots of runs from Mundelein to Chicago O'Hare on I-294. I NEVER drive fast enough for ANYONE on the tri-state, and on average, I get at least 3 headlight flicks and two fingers on the inbound trip. And that's at 75+ in the right-hand lane!!

In Texas, it just makes them confused and disoriented!
