loud pedal

I just heard a group of people talking about "the loud pedal" slang for accelerator. Is there a slang word for "brake pedal"?

Since we are on the topic of automotive slang, I'd like to ask my question too - I think it must relate to big trucks.

There's this little town I go through a lot on weekends that has a sign at the town limits that says "No Jake Brakes".

I can only guess it has something to do with noisy air brakes but I'm not really sure. Who was Jake and how did he brake?

Wow - everything you want to know is on the Internet these days:

Interesting to note that the company (Jacobs) considers the "No Jake Brakes" signs to be a trademark violation and wants people to report their locations and if possible include a digital picture.

Hmmmmmmm.

brakes are also referred to by some as "binders", as in "hit the binders". This is more descriptive of disc brakes (referring to the action of the caliper) than drum brakes.

some also use the term "Yes pedal" for the accelerator. Of course, there is "Gas pedal" or simply "Gas" (even in a diesel!)
