Etiquette Question

Is it rude to forward an email one has received to another person without first asking the sender for permission to forward it?

Interesting topic...

I consider e-mail "public domain", and therefore, subject to public viewing. I never send anything I would be afraid to see go public via e-mail.

If it's confidential or sensitive, then I use other means of communication.

Many here will have a one-on-one dialog via a particular thread, so they pull the conversation to e-mail simply to prevent using up any more space on the thread, and to save the other viewers the hassle of getting beyond the personal discussion. But I would caution anyone that uses e-mail to discuss sensitive information or for slinging insults at others, that their secret is "nowhere" safe!

I suppose you can notify the originator as a common courtesy, but consider that e-mails do get monitored by various "watchdogs", so again, nothing in e-communications is absolutely private.
