MBCA questions

Can you be a member of a local chapter without a subscription to the STAR?

Can you get the STAR without being a member of MBCA. After all, it's just a Frank Barret Publication like any other.

Can you join the National Chapter without being a member of the local chapter?

In addition, I think they are allowing non-members to participate in some national events and most local clubs allow this too, so you could go to some events without being a member. Also, just because you are a member of a local section doesn't mean you have to do anything. We have many more members in Toronto section than regularly take part in any of the events. You can also choose to belong to a section other than your local section. I am pretty sure the sections get some funding from the head office of the club for events and things based on local membership, so you might as well sign up local if you are going to at all. I just signed up for my 5th year, and I really enjoy it.

There’s more…

1. I’ve been a member since 95, but never was active in any events, mostly because I was stationed overseas.

2. The Star is not the only benefit, a lot of dealers give you discount on parts, depending on which ones I get whole sale price from Valley mortars in MD, they send me stuff to the UK where I’m stationed. Funny but true it’s closer to Germany but the exchange rate and taxes are high here. When I was on the other side (pacific) a few years back, I used Caliber in CA they gave me 20-25% off retail.

Thai GI sends…
