Nissan Skyline GTR Twin Turbo

Here's something you don't see everyday....
It's a Nissan Skyline GTR Twin Turbo.

There's a performance shop down the street from MB Autowerks called Balanced Performance. We often use their Dyno for performance tuning.

Last night Donnie and I went by their shop and saw this:

Nice simple lines

Fully adjustable rear wing

Basic but functional cockpit with right-hand drive:

Fully adjustable cross-bracing in the trunk:

Here's the business end:

Excellent seating for high-performance motoring:

Balanced Performance is installing larger turbos and some other performance upgrades on the vehicle for their customer.

Why isn't there a drooling smiley? I always wondered if it would be easier for a southpaw like me to drive one of those beasts. To get those cars in the states, these guys I've heard are the largest importers... http://www.skylinegtr.com/ Now only if I didn't have all these student loans, or I could wait for GM's new GTO, the Holden from Australia

man... all I can say is, you guys have to visit japan . I took a summer trip there, and my brother and I saw the CRAZIEST skylines there. I'll try to get some pics up, but these things were insane! I also got to see the new 2003 skyline [if anyone goes to tokyo, it's on display in the nissan building in the ginza district] and I was not impressed at all...but this is a great pic, and I'm sure impossible to find over here. god dang.

HIN

I forgot to mention... if you wanna see a buncha these, go to the Hot Import Nights show in Long beach. Last time I went, there were 10-15 skylines there. Apparently it was the skyline club or something and I think they were based in long beach, because I haven't seen them at any other HIN's. worth a shot to check them out tho

In Japan, they impose a limit on the power a car can produce, and that is about 276hp, so that is what the producers of these supercars quote. In reality, many of them exceed this figure.

BTW, these Skylines have AWD, so whatever power they produce are easily put down to the pavement.

Also, check out the redline on that tachometer - 8k!

I can't imagine how much more output there's gonna be with larger turbos and stuff.
Some Skylines have broken the 1000-hp barrier, let's put it that way.

Check out some Skyline sites for more information...

I'm gonna throw some pics up of the cars I saw in japan... some were cool [saw 2 badass skylines] and some were just rice.

ok... here's a few pics... the ferrari is my dad's friend's 328 GT with a tubi exhaust... I got a ride, and it's amazing. The new skyline was on display in the ginza district at the nissan showroom.

Check out the Tach

The needle starts at the 6 O'Clock position and redline is slightly past 12 O'Clock. That's the way is should be! :D :D

on cars modified for racing, the tachometer is usually rotated from its usual position (the usual position is with the numbers upright) and oriented with the optimal rpm positioned at 12-o'clock. This, to enable the driver to visually check through peripheral vision when to shift - it is easy to check visually when the needle is at the 12-o'clock position. This "optimal" point is usually the power peak of the engine.

on this Skyline (and other serious sports/race cars), the tach is designed with this in mind - note that the numbers are upright.
