Break Lining
I drive a 1996 Class E 320 with just 35,000 Km on it. The onboard computer just announced "Break Lining Wear" on the screen.
How many Km will I have before the lining really wears off or before going to the shop? Thanks in advance for your help. Mariano Penagos Colombia |
Bienvenidos!
Not sure how deep the sensors are set on newer cars, but on my 126 I had about 1mm, maybe a little more, pad remaining. I changed my pads within about 3-4 days of the light just beginning to flicker. Only one pad had worn enough for sensor contact (the others were ready to). No idea how many miles/kms that translates to. |
Hi Mike:
Thanks for your reply. I called MB yesterday and they recommended to look at the pads because sometimes too much heat on the pads falsely triggers the alarm. I took the car to a specialized break shop and the front pads are about 1/8" to 1/16" thick. The technician said I could drive some 1,000 Km more. This will give me time and pad lining to bring them from Europe this coming Christmas. Best regards Mariano |
Don't forget to pick up a set of new wear sensors too. They're only a couple $$ each.
