Here I go again...
PELOSI'S VOTING RECORD
...thought you might like to know a little more about the socialist that the Democratic Party has placed in charge of the House Democrats. A real brief look at her voting record: Against welfare reform (when proposed by the Republicans) Against the welfare reform bill (finally signed by Clinton) Against the reauthorization of the welfare reform bill in 2002 Against the death penalty. For more gun control Against any restriction barring the use of taxpayer funds to pay for art that shows human excretory matter. Against expanding IRAs Against school vouchers Against the liberation of Kuwait in 1991 Against the use of force to disarm Saddam Hussein Against anti-ballistic missile research Against the B-2 bomber There’s more, but I’m tired. She is going to be so much fun. Mike

I agree Mike,
The democrats have dug themselves a hole and are now sitting in it... Also, I heard a report on fox news the other day that a huge number of Democrats, (sorry I forgot the exact percentage) think the Democratic party is too far to the left. Just food for thought, discussion and debate...

Interesting contrast to the Independence Party Senator:
Dean Barkley fingered a cigar as he leaned back in his leather chair at the Russell Senate Office Building. He was contemplating the ritual autumnal question for a senator about to retire: How has Washington changed since you arrived as a freshman? "The weather has improved," Mr. Barkley replied on a balmy Friday afternoon. "It was cold and today it's nice." Mr. Barkley could remember his first cold freshman day as clearly as if it were yesterday, which it was. He arrived Thursday from Minnesota packing new suits and ties from Men's Wearhouse, hurriedly bought after he was unexpectedly appointed to serve out the remaining weeks of the term of Senator Paul Wellstone. Gov. Jesse Ventura had talked of sending his trash collector to the session, but he settled on Mr. Barkley. He campaigned with a makeshift parade float depicting a donkey and an elephant in a cage chewing dollar bills next to a sign reading, "Please Don't Feed These Animals!" Now, because the Senate is evenly divided, Mr. Barkley's vote will determine which party controls the chamber during the next two weeks.Mr. Barkley said he had not decided which party to empower when Congress reconvenes Tuesday, but in either case he was confident that his five-suit wardrobe would last him through the end of the term. "The Republicans are becoming more conservative, and the Democrats aren't sure what they are," he said. "Neither party represents the small-business man. The Republicans insist on poking their nose into the abortion issue, school prayer, all that stuff that I don't think has any business in politics. The Democrats have never met a government program they didn't like." He dashed off to another interview before he could be asked one last question: After his days in office were over, would he expect the customary courtesy of being addressed for the rest of his life as "Senator"? The question was fortunately resolved later. Today, his chief of staff issued an official statement with Mr. Barkley's answer: "Call me anything, but don't call me collect." http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nyt/20021111/ts_nyt/mr__outsider_is_an_insider__don_t_blink_

"1991 or 2002?"----Does it matter? Should have been done then, should be done now.
Why have Pelosi? Good question. Why have Democrats at all? That's MY question! Mike

Why are you Democrat bashing Mike? Forgive the Marxist materialist metaphor, but our country as it is today is a result of the thesis and antithesis of ideas. Without either of the two parties it would be either anarchy or an oligarchy.
Why Green party? Tree huggers with guns. That's why. The Green and Independence parties show that there exists a significant part of America who is tired of the same old blowhards running the country. If people would actually think for themselves instead of voting the lesser of two evils we would have much broader representation across the spectrum. More diversity, not less. We want the family trees to branch. Kuan |

EXACTLY! NOW maybe you're actually getting it! I vote LIBERTARIAN, because I want to be free, keep what I earn, and be responsible for my own actions.
www.lp.org Do you REALLY have to ask why I bash Democrats? They offer up far too many reasons to be bashed for me to ignore! :p Mike www.lp.org

You inadvertently made a great point!...You said "both sides", but there are many, many more sides to the equation than Democommies vs. Republicronies. People have been beaten over the head with the idea that there are only two choices, but it's not true! People must unlearn the tendency to vote for the lesser of the evils, as Kuan has pointed out. Like you said, I also vote for the PERSON, not the party...but 99% of the candidates I vote for end up being Libertarian, because they are the only ones making sense. Mike

I'm a Democrat, and I believe in capitalism and free trade. I have little socialistic leaning at all (in an economic sense) Personally, Green Party=much more socialistic than any Democrat could ever hope to be.
But I believe in a woman's right to choose, re: abortion. I also believe in the separation of church and state. Am I a Socialist or a Communist because of that? BTW, Libertarian and Republican? Practically the same beliefs and voting stance on MANY issues. More like a 1 1/3 party system rather than a two-party system. -Sam PS: Quote:

Came from eastern block in 1981. The first year my dad's income for 4 people was $8K, the second year - $12K. Got $0 in assistance from the Democrats because we lived in Detroit and had the "wrong color" for any sort of financial aid. When my Dad retired his salary was about $82 K no thanks to the Government programs. At least Republicans allow other people to succeed , Democrats want to imprison the voting segment in the strictly rationed handouts and pretend they care. THAT sounds too much like socialism I came to know too well.
BTW-when I say "Republicans/Democrats" I mean the politicians, not the voters.
