Shift Knob and Chrome Surround:
|
The knob that is in your car now is permanently attached to the stalk. They cannot be separated.
You buy the knob and stalk separately. |
Nice upgrades!
How hard was it to find a Zebrano wood and leather steering wheel and shifter, instead of Burlwood and leather? |
For shift knobs, the burlwood and zebrano are equally easy to find.
www.************************ carries both. For steering wheels, www.eris-car.de carries many more wheels in burlwood compared to zebrano: http://eris-car.de/cgi-bin/shop2/iboshop.cgi?show1850,3156936900 |
On the top of my head, just the door handles are chrome.
I guess you would think that it ought not match well as there's hardly any other parts that are chrome, too, but it really really looks good in person. Also, the leather / wood steering wheels are constructed from original wheels. The top and bottom half of the black wheels are cut out, and the wood is inserted. The quality of the wheels is absolutely 100% perfect. They look like a piece of art. The look and feel of the wheel will exceed your wildest expectations. |
Thanks for the info, Paul. I was wondering about a shift knob for my CE. I have the all-burlwood one now, but I like the wood/leather combo.

Paul... Nice set-up your wheel and shifter look great! Is your shift surround from performance products or is it the stick on type? I found a stick on metal shift surround that looks nice but I am afraid it will look funny! I just recieved, via ups my shift adapter from performance products so in the a.m. I'm going to install it along with my shift knob. :)

If they tell you that it wouldn't work or if they're not sure, I would do what a friend of mine did. He bought a knob for a W140. He used a utility knife and cut off the black plastic knob that his W124 had, and then glued on the new knob with epoxy. Looks perfect. I don't see why you couldn't do the same. |
I really like the shift knob...any idea if the knob and stalk could work on a 123?
Also, hate to sound dumb, but I thought that was burlwood, and that zebrano wood was a lighter color and had darker, more noticeable lines...I had always thought that I had burlwood in my car, and the knob (along with the rest of the dash) in your car looks like mine, at least from the pics... Actually, the knob that I've always liked the most was the stock one for the 210 cars...now if that could be color-matched to my 123's interior... |
I installed the leather / Zebrano shift knob and chrome surround in my 190e but my my shift knob does not have the MB logo -
I prefer the shift knob with the logo. For such a simple item the chrome surround really dresses up the interior. The steering wheel looks fantastic! |
Paul,
Thanks...I'm gonna order one now ...Looks great ! |
Hey, Bill, I just noticed on my drive home tonight from work that in addition to the door handles being chrome, the star logo on top of the shift knob is also chrome.
The MB pendant on my key ring is also chrome (if that counts). The four chrome items all together are a beautiful ensemble.:D ;) :p :) |
Hey Paul !
Your car looks nice... I like the pictures... Now be nice and honest and tell everybody where do you get the ideas... Hell a little credit will not hurt myself ! |
