Who remembers the Jensen Interceptor?

Was looking through some of my father's old photos of his cars a while back and found one of a '74 Jensen Interceptor he had. Boy, I remember that car as a kid and man could it fly!! I guess that's something you don't see yourself coming and going in! His car was burgundy with tan leather seats which had grey lambswool inserts in them. Pretty neat.

I do remember those cars! Luxury fast touring, I liked the looks of the front more than the rear, and the convertible was the nicest looking to me, but they were all nice, overall, and real fast! Pics and specs are at this link, and the sub links in blue on the main page:

I remember seeing one in our town as a high school kid. None of my buddies knew what it was 'cause they didn't read Road & Track. They were really interested once they learned it had a Chrysler engine

The link provided mentions the Interceptor FF. A very interesting car, it had the earliest version of the Ferguson torque-splitting AWD system that the later Audi Quattro system was based on.

Even today I think they are damned handsome automobiles

I saw an Interceptor recently, at a rest stop on the Czech side of the Czech-Austrian border. It had German plates. I've never been too impressed with them on paper, but in the metal it was quite an imposing car.

As an aside. When I was 15 I spent hours trying to convince my parents that a twenty year old Jensen-Healey was a perfect first car for me. "Engine parts are available, really! See, Lotus still uses that engine in their Esprit!"

Didn't (Mel Gibson) drive one of those in several of those early "Mad Max" series?
