RS in bed by 9.......Move the Super Bowl to Saturday!

Rick Miley 01-22-2003 02:42 PM

Had to vote for the Bucs. My father owned the sporting goods store that outfitted the original Buccaneer team, so we've been waiting 27 years for this. (No, he didn't pick those awful colors!)

The media down here has gone absolutely berserk. There's nothing on any TV or radion station except stuff about the Superbowl.

4NDELIT 01-22-2003 07:06 PM

ouch... poor chargers.

actually, I moved to san diego from the bay area, so I don't care about the chargers... they really suck. I love the 49'ers! they used to come to my school and play basketball with the staff as a fundraiser.

Steve Fortos 01-22-2003 07:18 PM

The Bucs will win by 6 because they want it more. This is their first shot at all the marbles. Their defense will get to Gannon eventually and he will go down, he will go down.

supermech2001 01-22-2003 07:46 PM

The Oakland Raiders will be the Super Bowl Champions.Trust me they want it just as bad if not more that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers...our offensive line is too big and they protect Gannon very well. The quarterback for Tampa Bay isnt very mobil like Steve Mcnair so it will be easier for our defense to contain him and get pressure on him. It should be a exciting game since Gruden used to be our coach and essentially knows the players and plays that the raiders usually run.But as the old saying goes the plays still have to be made on the field.Im counting the days now!!
My Pick...
Oakland 34
Tampa 17

Where were you when the poll was taken???????????????????????????????

Amanda Love 01-27-2003 11:22 AM

I just could not believe the halftime shows, Shania is morphing into some sort of country Cher and Gwen Stephani is turning into Madonna. And the commericial with the Osbournes, I have really, truly seen enough of them to last the rest of my natural life. But otherwise it was a very fun game. I enjoy the energy that flows at those football type-parties, surrounded by all of that, um, well I just had a good time. :o

I thought the game was a joke , with the exception of the Bucs secondary. And why Sting singing a twenty year old song???? Sting for crying out loud!!! THe high point of the whole affair was the Clydesdale's wrangler calling the referee (a zebra) a 'jackass'!!! Genius, pure genius!!

mrbones 01-27-2003 12:37 PM

It was nice to see the Bucs win and prove those who thought they could not do it wrong. By the end of the 2nd quarter, it looked like the Raiders gave up by the looks on their faces. At least they had a little rally in the last half of the game to make it interesting. Maybe the Bucs will get some credit now. After the Bucs performance against the Eagles, I knew they had a very good chance at winning. Finally!

supermech2001 01-27-2003 08:50 PM

Ok..I will take my licking...My beloved Oakland Raiders got their hats handed to them royally.I guess that John Lynch of the Bucs really knew something when he made the comment during the game that the raiders ran the same plays that they (Tampa) ran in practice.I will give credit where its due.Oh well cant wait to training camp so we can get the super bowl run started all over again!!

I must reflect ...

Being a Raider fan from the 70's (I was 10 years old when I went to my first game - KC, Raiders won), I was very very disappointed. Jerry Rice getting his first catch late in the 3rd quarter, come on!!!

Tampa played like the Champions that they are.

Though I'm very bummed, I will still support my beloved Raiders through thick and thin, but this one hurt. Really hurt.

Raider Norm

Rick Miley 01-28-2003 09:02 AM

Thank you gentlemen

for your kind words. There are a great many fans in Tampa who have supported their team through thin and thinner. Having waited 27 years for this, it certainly feels good. I only wish I could be home to enjoy the revelry - I'm working out of town at the moment. Gasparilla this weekend should certainly be a lot of fun.

engatwork 02-01-2004 02:29 PM

Bring it back to the top - I'm pulling for Carolina today.

Kuan 02-01-2004 02:54 PM

What's a "super bowl"? Sounds like some new toilet you don't wanna be sittin' on when you flush  ;) :p :D

jpb5151 02-01-2004 06:57 PM

Well, so far the 2004 game doesn't seem to be one-sided.

Say, did the sportscasters always advertise other TV shows (they keep pushing some Survivor show that I never watched; previews were always bad enough)? Maybe I'm just noticing it more? I'd sorta prefer the sportscasters to focus on the Sport. Too much to ask these days, I suppose...

Go Patriots! :D

engatwork 02-01-2004 07:00 PM

That Ford GT advertisement makes me want to run down to my local Fomoco dealer and pick one up:).

jpb5151 02-01-2004 07:02 PM

Just saw the Budweiser commercial. I'm still laughing. But don't tell my wife.

[edit] Just saw IBM's Linux commercial with Muhammad Ali. Wow.

The wife was not impressed with the ad where the horse farted. She wandered why the guy could not have taken it in the face like the gal did.

Zeitgeist 02-01-2004 08:12 PM

What's a Carolina?

Benzman500 02-01-2004 10:08 PM

I'm getting real sick of that GT40 Commercial I hope some car company comes out with something well anything to shut Ford up.
But my favorite was the Bud Light Commercial with the dogs in the first 10 min of the game :D

Zeitgeist 02-01-2004 10:30 PM

Is she auditioning to be an extra in a Mad Max re-make? The guy looks curiously under/over-dressed next to her. Who is he anyway? Were these folks the halftime entertainment?--I use that term very generously...

Benzman500 02-01-2004 10:35 PM

Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake

MedMech 02-01-2004 10:44 PM

Mark my words she is going to say she did it in protest of the way SEE BS treated Wacko Jacko.

I thought it was supposed to be part of the act... this happened right after he said "and you'll be naked by the end of this song," so I thought it was supposed to happen.
