I've used mapquest for driving directions in the US but now I'm trying to use it internationally for Europe. I've been sent links to mapquest from a few Europeans, but everytime I follow the link all I get is a site for US driving directions. When I do a search for mapquest the descriptions says I can get international as well as US driving maps, but all I ever get is the US edition.
What am I doing wrong?

I have had that problem too finding maps in Canada. If you click on driving directions in the upper left hand corner therer are three options, north america, europe or saved routes.
