Unhappy Ok, Now I feel old!

My oldest daughter is getting married this summer. I haven't decided whether I'm happy or sad about it. It's strange enough having your first baby, but when that first baby decides to really cut the 'ol cord and get married, well....
How'd you others with married kids do the first time? Was it a happy time, or what?

I SHOULD have kids of married age, but I had a bumpy life in early manhood, so I started kinda late. I'm 43, my daughter is 8.

I'll be pretty crispy when she gets ready to "jump the broom".

Her "baby" days are still fresh in my mind as I watch her hop on the bus in the mornings. Can't imagine letting her go when the time comes...

I'll tell you what made me feel old! When my barber clipped my hair last week and decided to trim my nose and ear hairs!!!???

rickg, It was a happy time. It was a nerve racking time. It was a sad time. It was a really expencive time. The best part of the day is standing in the recieving line and getting to hug all your daughters good looking girl friends. Have fun.

Yeah, that's it!! I'm sure wearing a bag over yur head and swinging sock-o-quarters around has nothing to do with it.

Rick I think that...

...I know how you feel. My oldest daughter and I have been touring colleges, including my own Alma Mater. She is off to college next Fall. And yet. it seems like it was just the other day that I was feeding her strained peas...and she was spitting them right back at me. She never did like peas!

G-Benz, if you think that getting your ear and nose hairs trimmed made you feel old, wait tillyou start getting grey hairs in sundry parts of your body...talk about feeling old. BTW, Panasonic sells a great ears and nose hair trimmer. I highly recommend it.

If my son did what I did, I'd be a grandfather

Good to see I'm in good company here! I'm TRYING to be happy about it. The young fella she's marrying has been trying to muster up the courage to do the official "asking for your daughter" thing, and I'm not sure who is more nervous about that, him or me. But he's a pretty good guy, and we'll welcome him into the family.
I'm not only getting the ear and nose hairs, but my eyebrows are taking on a life of their own too!

At my son's wedding, my soon to be daughter in law had a song played that was about 'changing the main man in my life from my daddy to my husband'. That damn thing brought a tear to my eyes!! Thank the Lord I only have boys!!

I'm almost 47 and my daughter is 8. My lady, who is 43, has a 2.5 year-old.

Crispy, is it? Tee hee.

Oh gads! I'm REALLY not ready for THAT! I remember when my older brother became a grandfather a couple years ago. It made it feel too close for comfort then!
