JSmith, When you don't use the cute faces on sentences people have to assume you mean them in a serious way... the last two posts being a good example.. Capn was being cute about a song verse ( a play on Home of the Brave)... but when you responded we can't tell if you are angry about it....it sounded like you took it as an actual accusation.... but with the smilie face the whole sentence needs to be thought of as either an attempt to be funny or just something to ignore... but not something to take offense at.... Without body language and intonation of the voice it is really easy to take something written the opposite of the way the person meant it....

I was not angry yesterday or today... even when I started the thread " France closed why? " it was because I was puzzled... not angry... but DrAMG seemed to take it as a slap at him , being of French descent, rather than at the attitude of the French Government.. I even suspect that the Frence would be proud to be described as arrogant in their attitude towards the US...So I was shocked when DrAMG responded with the feelings he expressed...
I am glad I put the disclaimer near the start of this thread today... and I really meant it... anyone here is not a ____________(whatever country they came from) but one of us.. so should be able to rationally discuss their former homes or any other nations actions without taking it personally....
I am only going over this because most of this stuff seemed to happen on my thread.. even though I kept trying to keep it clean and nice...LOL.. and almost made someone mad even doing that...
But I will say that clean and nice (except that it was off topic of my thread) is not the final standard.... truth and civility should be amongst the final criteria.. and good discussion too...

Joe, my mailbox filled up the other day and I was shocked because I am NOT that popular....
YOu have to select more than the 30 day default to see all those stored in your box... then you can delete whichever ones you want to..

One of his sentences yesterday was " we appreciate the US coming to our aid"... a paraphrase.... so I took it that he was of French Descent...
However, the French used Viet Nam as a resort country... because it is beautiful... I have pictures of the French/Catholic influence all over it.. so we could both be correct...
And of course the Michelin Tire Rubber plantation was just about ten minutes flight from where I was... I have pics of that from the air... all laid out in lines...

okay, okay, that was the real reason - i couldn't keep up with all the PM's. i was trying to keep all of them to use as material in a BLOG

Bill, I think he's talk'in about me! Well, maybe you and me! I'm glad you brought that up!! That statement, if you remember, was to test the water. I did not say you were a 'homo degenerate'. I was attempting to show how moderators can misunderstand the intentions of words strung together before the thread got locked. The two were taken from Webster's New Riverside University Dictionary. Both words have multiple meanings. The two I was referring to were Homo: A member of the genus Homo, which includes the extinct and extant species of human beings. Your orientiation, although contrary to mine, is your business. I have friends that are gay, and by the way, they 'mock' hit on me all the time cause they know I'm cool with it. I 'flirt' back with them. We have fun with it. l
was once again, misunderstood. I hope that this settles the assumption that I am homophobic. As far as being a 'hick', to me that's not a four letter word!!

Ok I know I'm kinda late on this thread but I would like to throw my .02 cents in. I think this forum shows how diffrent people are and how we all need to learn to just keep our mouth shut and move on sometimes. I have made a lot of online pals over the open discussion and I would hate to see it go.

Shoot man, some of us never made it past middle school, and playing on words like that obviously show taht your intent wasn't to say the words in the sense we primarily all know them as, but as their 2ndary, less used meanings. In doing so, I also believe that your intent was to "test" mods or whomever else, so see if they could go after that, and then you'd proudly say "oh no I meant this and that. Kinda like a kid would say "you're a homo" then tjhe other kid is about to tell on him and that kid says "Sapien" HAHAHAHAHA. get my point? ok.

And Benzman, you're right on the money w/ this attitude Hopefully thing will go well and nobody will lose the open discussion.
