Forum Military Veterans LOGIN

It has been mentioned lately that our general membership is probably older than most so our percentage of vets may also be high...

Please state ( in this order )

1. Start and End date of service
2. Branch
3. Job description
4. Posts where stationed ( and dates )
5. any interesting stories you want to relate...

Mine:
1. March 1967 to May 1971
2. Army Aviation
3.Helicopter pilot ( Huey Slick)
4. Ft.Leonard.Wood,Mo,Ft Polk, La, Ft.Wolters,Tx, Ft Rucker, Ala, Ft Riley,Ks, Camp Evans,VN C/158 AHC 101st Airborne , Bearcat ,VN 240th AHC , Ft Wolters,Tx.

I took a cargo ship to VN which left Beaumont Tx.... took 30 days to get to DaNang with the Conex Containers.... NO STOPs on the way.... I had a suntan and handlebar mustache when I got there...looked like I had been there for years.....LOL

My father retired from the ARMY ....He was with the 112th CAV (with horses) in South Pacific during WW2. Had malaria and Dengy fever there and I was born at Ft Sam Houston (San Antonio) while he was recovering from those fevers....then he spent rest of time as Criminal Investigator attached to the Corp of Engineers at Cincinnati...

Army 1986 - 1989
Communications E-4
Ft. Polk LA

The Army tough me disipline, how to binge drink and how to herniate 4 disc's in my neck. I made it through Ranger school and was injured a month later Wahooooooo!

Any how my family.

Father Army Reserve Lt. Colonel (Orthopedic surgeon)
Mother Army Reserve Captain Surgical Tech
Brother full time Army Lt. Colonel Military Intel.
Brother FT Major KC-140 pilot AF
Brother Ensign USCG on his way to the gulf.

And to all that wonder were very well $$$ off a prerequisite in my family is to serve, you don't have too, but if you don't you don't get the prize. It's funny how everybody stays in for a carreer anyway.

Don, Please edit #4 to reflect a more reasonable expectation after four years of service.... it was cute, however...

zla, WOW, Navy ( always great food) in THose beautiful sounding locations .... very cool....

RS, I don't have the words to describe how heart warming and impressive you/your family's resume is. Someone was raising children right .

Rayson, I would also...
Were you north or south of the HyVAn Pass... and were you on Hwy 1 ? Name of camp or firebase?
