A bad start to the new year

Today we lost another Space Shuttle.

We heard it here. Sounded like something hit the roof and rolled down. A sad day.

This sucks! The Columbia was the first shuttle to go up as well. I wonder if the pilot's escaped?

I always feel extra sad when we lose astronauts. They used to be my heroes when I was a kid. They were my "guys."

I agree it's very sad. They need to do something about the shuttles the age is catching up with them problems have been increasing and I do not feel that it's worth the risk of human life.
I don't think the pilot's escaped because it was 39 miles up according to what they are saying now.

Now 90 minutes later, the debris trail is visible on the weather radar extending from Dallas to southeast of Tyler, TX.

Angry Space Shuttle Disaster

I just got the news that the Space Shuttle " COLUMBIA " has disintegrated upon re-entry over Texas this morning at a speed of 12,500 MPH It is presumed that all is lost.

It is tragic, but I am reminded of just how few astronauts have lost their lives. The safety record of the Shuttle Program is incredible.

Truth be told, I'd rather check on the shuttle 39 miles out than be blind sided by some drunk driver. They lived well, and they died well.

Poor families...
