Carbon-Fiber layup construction
Anyone here experienced in Carbon-Fiber/Glass layup construction? I want to try my hand at making a few things.
|
Have you done a web search for " experimental aircraft construction " ? Those are the guys with lots of experience with that stuff...or " composite" ....
|
Yep I actually did a little googling. I even got myself a book, but all the books in the world can't beat a tiny bit of hands on experience :)
I want to make a guitar case for my guitar. All the cases out there are either flimsy or too darn heavy. The only carbon-fiber guitar case out there is way over a grand. There are some fiberglass ones out there but they're really heave. |
Have you thought about Aluminum ? Much easier to get those qualities....
|
kuan, you should check out www.feathercarbon.com
Thomas the owner is a master at carbon fiber. WHo knows, he may even be able to make you yoru guitar case for way less thana grand. I know he makes airboxes for the M119 mercedes engine for less than half of what the renntech unit costs, and his is higher quality. Alon |

Talk to those people at Wenonah. They have experience in this area. I visited their factory once. Kerry |
I have no experience with carbon fiber, but I think it was Run.exe a member here who found someone who made an intake airbox out of carbon fiber. Perhaps his contact would be of assistance. If nothing else, maybe the guy could make one for you. His offerings for the air box were pretty darned good and he was obviously talented!
