Back to back episodes today. Lots of vintage film from the 30s and 40s. They cover the other marques as well. There were films of some of the greatest drivers of all time.

JUst watched the entire series, Sunday afternoon. Great show.
BTW, my parents were at the 1954 race at LeMans that had the wreck that effectively ended MB's participation in racing until the 80's

Quite a series, that Fangio was really something.

i believe that the minimum weight restriction nowadays was imposed so that constructors will not sacrifice driver safety.

i wish that they will show races of the more modern models, those we can identify with. For example, I wish that they would show the race where they had the best drivers race against each other in identical 190e 2.3-16 cars, and Senna won, in spectacular fashion. They said that unlike the other drivers, he took that race very seriously.

bobbyv, I understand where you are coming from but I invite you to read about the early days of F1 racing especially the 30s and 40s. The evolutionary pace of technology and driving skill was incredible.

My favorite driver of all time is Tazio Nuvolari. He is credited with inventing the four wheel drift.

I don't want to start a debate on old vs. new but if you read the accounts of some of these races you will likely get drawn in too. There are some great stories out there.

i don't like how now....teams make the cars super light and use weight ballasts.....min weight should be the car itself and not with the weight ballasts also

Tazio was the man back in the day

today's drivers look to Schumacher and Senna as the benchmark
yesterday was Clark, Tazio, & Fangio

sad news for me : i went to watch the 2 hrs of Racing Mercedes I thought I had recorded....nope....something went asmiss and I got a blank tape :-(

Anyone know when the full series will be on again?
