Ford owns a controlling share of Mazda. The President of Mazda in Japan is an American.
GM owns a portion of Fiat, and might be forced to purchase the rest of it.

Seat was the Spanish car company that VW bought about 10 years ago, I believe. They offer badge-engineered VW's in the European markets, but they tend to be a bit sportier than VW, while still being much cheaper than Audi.
I think GM owns about 20% of Subaru. Ford owns a minority of Mazda (<50%, but I think somewhere in the 30's) but has effective control - the last two CEO's of Mazda were gaijin appointed by Ford, and Ford and Mazda cars are becoming more and more integrated. Oh yeah, GM owns 20% of Fiat (in return for which Fiat's holding company got 5% of GM), and Fiat has the right to put the remaining 80% of the car division to GM next year, which terrifies GM. |

There is a lot of cross chassis, engine, suspension and sheet metal sharing between the two to the point where Seat is considered a poor mans VW. You can buy parts from one and put on the other, its pretty cool to see european mod'ers mix the two. |

Did GM not purchase part of Peugeot, a long time back.
I remember we had Peugeot in Canada and it was moved to GM and then dropped of the face of Canada. Anybody know the story? |

I seem to remember Peugeot and Volvo being together somehow.

There was the PRV V6 engine introduced in ~about 1980. Jointly developed and used by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo. That's probably what you're thinking of. It was also used in the Delorean, but nobody bought them.
Didn't Hyundai salvage Kia, or am I thinking of Daewoo? - Jim |

PcDave said VW bought Lamborghini,
I guess it's kind of the same company. I hear rumours that MB is going to buy Hyundai. You can see signs of this on the following site: Daimler & Hyundai |

Geneva - Since there will be no Turin show this year, Geneva became the home base for Italian carmakers. That means it was the perfect opportunity for Audi's newly acquired marque, Lamborghini, to show off another variation of the Diablo sports car. http://www.transnationale.org/anglais/fiches/-1739697473.htm |
