Talking Oil question, just for curiosity

If you are on a road trip, and your a little low in oil, and you can't find the kind you like to use. Which is more important, staying with the brand name or the weight of the oil?

I would be preferential to the brand name but almost all oils are compatible with each other. Sticking with the same brand name ensures similar additive packages. But, I wouldnt worry over it. Just don't start mixing 4 or 5 different brands to make a oil cocktail.

I would say as long as you put oil back in is all that matters.

For instance, it shouldn't matter much if you put in some chevron oil of the same weight as your oil.

I would just change it back to my normal brand completely after I got back.

Better than driving it without oil.
