Seeing it for the first time reminds me of the first time I went in combat.
The most vivid memory I have is sitting in a helicoptor heading towards Panama City my platoon Sgt. said "This is where you find out if you have balls or not" I have been a changed person ever since. I think the same thing is going through little bro's head. |

war and fear
I am a Gulf War veteran and I remember how I was afraid to go into war even though we had superior equipment and training. At best, war is a rough experience. When I look at kids wearing "No Fear" on tshirts and bumper stickers I can only think of General Pattons statement that: (Paraphrased here) "If there is such thing as a fearless man, I have never seen such a man. It is the couragous man, who forces himself to carry on in spite of his fear".
As a reserve Drill Sergeant (Ft. Sill OK) I tell privates that if they think were tough, just wait for combat. Basic Training is simulation and prep., combat is real, although we try to make it as real as possible. Robert Davis

Greetings from KU,
I would rather be there than here, here being Camp Doha 50 miles from the Iraqi border! I will give you Guys and Gals a report and maybe some pix's when the ***** starts hitting the fan. Hope your lil' brother stays safe! Lucky Navy dudes have no threat of NBC, it's just to easy for them! |

Thanks Mike,
I really do appreciate your comments. I can honestly say that the men and women in the services never tire of hearing comments like yours! I however am not a Soldier, I am one of many Military Contractors here supporting the digital and computer systems our troops are using. After all, the Military has a lot of equipment and live bodies have to support it. Hey rsbiomedical, hope your little Bro stays safe. |
