How'd you pick your signature?

I guess I have too much spare time. I was looking at the forum page, and started wondering how some of you came up with your forum name. Some are obvious and easy, like mine, (rickg), but some of you have ones that must have a hidden meaning. I won't name names I'll let you volunteer the info.

I've wanted to ask this question before, too.

I lived in Japan for many years, and Suginami is the name of the Prefecture that I lived in.

The name "prefecture" is kind of strange, but basically, Japan is broken up into prefectures, and they are basically the size of a county.

Suginami Prefecture is just inland of Tokyo.

I lived in Suginami Prefecture, Nishi-Ogikubo city.

At the time i chose the nick "Freestyler", i was training for the skydiving discipline 'Freestyle' (balancing in various positions during free-fall). The same year the band Bomfunk MC's had a huge hit with the techno/rap song Freestyler.

Well, you get it..

Freestyler

I was tired and hungover and couldn't think of anything original when I first registered to this board, so I just grabbed a Greek name for an alias.

So no, I don't have any kind of superiority complex or any crap like that. I should have thought harder I guess but I was too lazy and wasn't sure if I was going to bother coming back to this board...lol...guess I liked it here after all.

Good thread...nice that I can finally explain this...

Name and personalized plates

I saw the name V Gates on a 380SL years ago and liked it so had it on a Ford pick-up, Nissan Pick-up,Plymouth Grand Voyager and
finally on my 1991 300CE coupe where it's proper. Asked anyone that speaks German if in doubt of the meaning

I'm new, but I've probably got one of those weird nicks you're wondering about.

I homebrew beer... The standard ingredients in beer are grain, hops, water, and yeast. "Saaz" is a variety of hops.

I started using hop-names in online games years ago, because to most people it looks like a random fantasy-type name, but the other brewers out there recognize it and send me messages.

My last name is Turman. While I was growing up my friends called me Terminator. The name also stuck with me when I was in the funeral business (go figure).
