Smile Dude, I got a Dell

Hey all,

A friend of mine who's company has a good connection with Dell Computers ordered me a new system (Dimension 2350). I got a complete package which includes the following features:

-Pentium 4 processor
-30GB hard drive
-1.8 GHz CPU
-256 MB RAM
-40X/10X/40X CD R/W
-15" flat panel display

To those of you with Dell systems, how do you like them? I currently have a Sony VAIO laptop which is going on four years old and is slowly dying on me, so I figured a new high-speed desktop would be a good buy. Especially at the ridiculous price he is getting these (brand new) systems for from Dell. Apparrently they are overstock and he's bought 5 already and just bought 5 more.

I have been casually looking at computers, mainly laptops from Sony and Hewlett Packard but when I heard of this deal, I figured I'd settle for a desktop. I seem to remember hearing pretty good things about Dell, so I'm happy with my purchase. It will arrive early next week from the factory.

We bought a new Dell P4 desktop in the fall. So far (touch wood) it's been great. It came four days ahead of schedule. Everything worked right out of the box. The software that was supposed to be in the box was there.

They overcharged me slightly for some reason. One call, and it was fixed right away.

And I can't believe the price. Amazing.

dells are a great bang for the buck however those nvidia cards still occassionally throw up the infamous XP infinite loop problem. my sister just got a top of the line inspiron and it had the problem and dell couldn't fix it. they wound up replacing it with a different unit. the second unit was ok...

I bought 6 dell 4550's for my dad's office with 17" LCD's, 1 2350 with 15" LCD, and a poweredge 1600SC server with dual p4 2ghz xeon's, 1 gig ram, and two 36gb 15k rpm scsi hd's..

All are great. had a problem witht he 15" LCD, it was shutting itself off, but they overnighted me a new one.

Dell is good. I always build my own personal systems, but when my dad offered to get me a 4550, I said ok, and have been using it for the last 3 months, no problems whatsoever.

Thumbs up

ive bought several dells over the years. my experience has been pretty good overall. several HD's that failed (western dig) were promptly replaced. however, the CD driver that was required to reload SW were not included, i thought that was pretty poor CS.

im a shareowner of the company, so keep buying up guys!!!

i dont know if michael dell's business model is as good as it once was, but i remember that he would have the component vendors send over a truckload of say hard drives, and didnt pay for the drive until your order/payment was in hand and the HD crossed his dock door! pretty good cash flow. i wish the stock would rebound to its earlier high!

Bought my Dell Dimension desktop a little over a year ago. Been very pleased with it-- no real problems.

Also purchased the Dell Axim X5 PDA recently. For the money $300 after rebate, it performs up with others in the $550- $600 range (64MB RAM 48MB ROM Intel XScale with a 400MHz processor speed). Love it!
