What Has the Dealership Done For You Lately?

Last night, all the local Nissan dealers sponsored a movie night at a multiplex . . . as long as you're a registered owner of any vintage Nissan you got 2 free tix to any movie showing that night and $5 (each adult) in concession vouchers. My wife has a new Altima and all she had to do was register for the event online. They parked new cars (350Z, Sentra-R, Murano and Altima) in the lobby. They do this twice a year and also sponsor annual "Track Day" and "Family Day" picnic. There's also a locally produced quarterly glossy magazine. Nice to see a whole group of dealerships getting together to build brand loyalty.

Exclamation

The M-B dealership gave me a set of new distributor caps and rotors after I yelled at them on the phone for an hour or so...

When I was involved with the Mopars Northwest club with my '67 300 one of the local Dodge/Chrysler dealers would clear out a whole section of their lot for us to have a sunday show once a year. Good advertisement for them, awesome location for us

My local dealership parts guy gives me free calendars. He also gives me 15% off. Comes in handy when I need small parts.

The other day at the Mercedes dealer an associate sneered at me when I filled my "personal" coffee cup with coffee.

The GM dealer delivered my last vehicle to my front door 130 miles from the dealer.

The Ferrari dealer sent me a gift when my daughter was born.

The last time I actually took my Mercedes to the dealership to have something done (rather than to my trusted Mercedes mechanic of seven years) I think I got a free set of really nice paper floor mats.

Oh the perks!!

I work at Nissan Corporate Hdq. in Gardena, CA. About three months ago they had Cheryl Crow in for a free concert for employees, families and friends. Not a fan but it was a nice gesture for a lot of people.

I was at the dealer while my mother was buying a used 86 SDL. The guy sent me a certificate for 75 bucks at amazon.com if I come test drive a C230 sport and a catalog for MB apparell etc. Better than that, they gave me a certificate for 15% off parts and labor even though I didn't buy anything from them. And, I think it's not a one time discount.
They also gave me and my bro free key chains and were just generally really nice.
Even down at the ultra snooty dealership in Marin, the service representative was helpful on the phone while trying to help me get to the bottom of something. This on a car that none of their techs know anything about anymore.

My guys do me right

My dealership, Hoehn Mercedes in Carlsbad has treated me very fairly with both my cars. In some cases where a repair would be pricey, they would recommend someone else doing the work (or DIY).

Hoehn has a very competent lead technician from Germany, named Holger, who knows the W124 500E pretty well, and is in a position to mentor the other staff members. To date, I am very pleased with Hoehn.

Though I live near Hoehn, I work in San Diego and occasionally I'll stop by Mercedes of San Diego for parts. A newly built facility that is very POSH, I'd say. The dealership is a Roger Penske dealership which is great in my book. I've only dealt with the Parts department to date.

I've been using an Indy at times for the 190E, and he has been charging me 80 bucks a hour, returns the car dirty, and doesn't offer a loaner ... not very wise on my part.

Now that I think about it, Nissan did something pretty cool for me. Two years ago, after I first began as an independant director/TD in television, I didn't have a lot of work. So, while reading Car and Driver, I notice that I can get a free videotape about the then current Maxima. FREE, so I call and have one sent to my house.

I guess they figure anyong willing to spend the effort in getting the video is really interested in the car, so along with the video came a coupon for a free Swiss Army watch if I then actually GO to the dealership to test drive the car.

I went, drove the car, told the salesman that I'm not yet in the market, but maybe in the next year and really wanted the free watch, and received a nice FREE Swiss Army watch a few weeks later in the mail. Pretty cool.

PS I actually did drive a Maxima then, which I totalled it a couple months later. I'm ALL Benz now.
