Tank,
MBZ'ER was a "straight ahead, no-holds-barred, let's rumble!" kind of guy. I would never mistake you for him (you have some sneaky moves )

I guess the Canadian Ashcroft equivalent found him and censored him.

in retrospect, banishing MBZ'ER to the wastelands up north now seems to be cruel and unusual punishment. maybe we should let him come back (after some electroshock treatment) :p

I posted on MBcanada.com a few times, and I disliked the "If you don't have a Benz body style that's currently coming down the assembly lines, you ain't s***" ethos that I felt up there.
Can anyone enlighten me with what else was wrong with MBCanada, other than than and the aforementioned dullness quotient? Feel free to PM me on the matter. -Sam |

In short:
The forum is junk.
Most of the contributors like to talk about their latest visit to the dealership and talk about either how good or how bad they get treated. They don't even care about the cars. Most of those dorks bought because of the image factor anyways. Visiting that site is a waste of time. Mike McKinney

Mercedes is a little different in Canuck land. An entry level C-Class easily smashes the $50K mark, and an E500 can come close to $100K.
New MB's are quite exclusive thanks to the pricing. Now, many of the new car owners I meet like to think they are like their cars: exclusive. That said, many are not. They are fops that couldn't find the engine with the hood fully open. We also don't have the huge supply of used cars that you have in the US. That means few indie mechanics that can really work on the cars. I envy most of our US members, as they have guys like Steve and MB DOC out there. Generally speaking, we don't. My experience with being a new car shopper in MB showrooms is that the salespeople think that since they SELL the cars, they are somehow elevated in status above anyone that walks into the showroom, perhaps excepting a few NHL'ers. Without the grass-roots kinda MB owners (I call Canadian new MB owners "astro-turf" instead of grass-roots.) and excellent indie mechanics and willing dealer mechanics, the MBCanada forum is destined to be repetitive (dealer stories) and deadly dull. Now, I do know a few new car owners (need2speed Dean, and others) that are knowledgable enthusiasts, but they are a much rarer breed in our parts. For the greatest concentration of MB's in Edmonton, come to the gym with me in the morning. The Volvo-driving-soccer-Moms have traded up to ML's like crazy. And they all look down their noses at everyone they meet, babble on without pause about their husband's careers (no thoughts in their own heads) and compare the abilities of their housekeepers.
