How many of us have served our country?

How many fellow MBshoppers have served in their respective country's militarys? I will hopefull be going into the Coast Guard as an officer when I graduate.

I just missed to opportunity to serve. The Nam war ended and they stopped the draft the year I turned 18. I was too much against the whole thing of military service back then to volunteer. (You have to remember how anti-war, anti-military it was in the 70's)
My hats off to all the young people that have the guts to sign up now. It always amazes me that anyone would actually volunteer for military service. I stand proud of you all!!!!

John, which subs were you on? The husband of my local coffee shop's owner, who retired last June as a Captain, was CO of the Cincinatti and then the Alaska. Now he makes lattes for teenage snowboarders.:p

He worked in the Pentagon on 9/11 and his office was hit and destroyed. Fortunately he was in another part of the building.
