Is Al-Sahaf just stupid...

....or do people over there really believe what he says? Every time I see this guy talking to the press, he denies everything that is happening, and keeps saying how the "enemy forces" are being beaten back and killed, blah, blah, blah. I heard yesterday his words referred to as "second-grade propaganda" tactics.
Example:

Typical propaganda from a desperate man. I assume he hopes there are enough people left in Iraq who don't have access to true and reliable information.

Unfortunately, that is the case... :(

We here in the rest of the world get live feeds, and depending on what network you are watching, you get a different flavor of current events...at least until the daily CENTCOM feedings can confirm (or deny) recent developments.

Given that, imagine a war-torn country dealing with a total breakdown of the basic infrastructure...

Yeh, I guess I have to stop and think of the limited access alot of people have to world news. That makes sense. I guess alot of people are going to be in for a real rude awakening!

Thanks, "Mang" . .

For the latest news on troop movements in Baghdad, the locals have two reliable sources, open the damn window and look at the Abrams tank driving past your house, or call your relative/friend in Jordan/Syria on the phone and ask them what's going on.

Besides, with the power off in Baghdad, this dude might as well be sitting in a closet talking to himself. Talk about a limited audience. He's the biggest joke in the Arab world right now. I have heard that people tune him in just to see how deluded he'll be in his next broadcast.

Last night I saw the idiot on a news clip talking about the situation at the airport. For like 5 minutes he just kept saying over and over how they would fire their rockets and mortors at the coalition troops, who would then retreat. Then they would stop firing, and then the troops would advance forwards into areas that they (the Iraqis) had intentionally left "open". Then they would start to fire on them and kill a bunch of them. He never said anything else. Just that same thing over and over, slightly re-worded each time, as if he thought he wasn't getting his point across. Is this really the level of intellegence of an information minister over there?
I guess I'm too easily amazed at stupidity:rolleyes: :D

Rick, You are probably a young guy... us older guys have seen the Russians and Chinese give news conferences like this for all the 50 years of the cold war....you just keep looking at them thinking " did he really say what I thought I heard him say?" Then graduate to " Does he really believe what he is saying ?" then " Does he really believe that anyone else believes what he is saying ? "......

Hee Hee. I guess I'll take that as a complement. I'm 46.:D
I've just never followed something like this so closely I guess. I clearly remember the cold war, but didn't really watch the news that much when I was younger.
But thanks. Just proves somethings never change. Liers lie, even when truth has a gun pointed at their head.

Kinda like when dealer says...

"Nah, that blue smoke is because the M112 is a high performance engine!"

Benzoman 04-07-2003 03:55 PM

This dude is a trip!! He says that the coalition is "committing suicide on the walls of Bagdad"!! LMAO!! I can just imagine him selling used cars at Crazy Al's!! "Look at this beauti!" "A 1979 Monte Carlo owned by a little ol lady in Basra who only drove it to the Mosque once a week!" "It comes with a 50mm machine gun already welded to the roof!!":p
