The badges are for the car, based on the mileage on the odometer. The pins are for the driver and are based on mileage the driver has put on MBs. SO if you have owned 4 MBs over the last how many years and put a total of 250,000km on all of them the lapel pin is for you. If your car has over 250,000km on the odometer no matter if it's all your driving or not you get the grill badge for the car. That's my understanding. I had the 250,000km grill badge for my old 420SEL.

My car has 56,000 miles on the odometer, though, on the old mercs, they used to reset every 99,999, and it's ticked over once. Is there anyway they can veryify it without the service books?

I don't know how the dealers do it in OZ, but here, they can enter the VIN into the computer, and tell you most of the history of the car. See what history you can find on your beauty and trace the owners if you can to see how many times it's been ticked over. I'd be curious to know more about your car.

And Jason is correct. The pins are only for drivers that have honestly accumulated the mileage on Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The badge is for the car, and the odometer should be verified by a local MB dealer. Many people have the badge and certificate framed, and don't put the badge on the radiator grille at all.

BTW eplack, the 250,000 Km badge is now gold, and that picture of the brochure is already posted in the archives, along with the updated pics of the gold badge. Use the archives to search for topics of interest to you. You might be amazed by what's already been posted. ;)

i havent scored all 215000 of the miles (its used), so would i still qualify?

The Warden 04-14-2003 03:32 AM

I believe that you qualify for the grille badge, but not for the certificate or the lapel...

I could be wrong, though; I haven't gone through the process yet...although my car's ready for it, I keep forgetting to call the number. :)

Almost correct... you get the certificate and badge, but no pin.

I just sent out my form for the 250K badge

Interestingly the dealer I went to to sign and verify the milage was totally confused by the form. First they tried to tell me that MB didn't offer badges anymore. I pointed out that MB-USA had just sent me the form two weeks earlier. Then they acted put out to have to bother with it. They seemed shocked that anyone would want to drive a beautiful 15 year old Benz!

I suppose this is the north east where non-rusty older cars are few and far between but still....

HI,
Will I be able to put the badge on my 560sl? It looks like it is just for the sedan grills.
Thanks,
rob

I got my badge

I got my badge very quickly. They faxed me the form, I filled it out and I sent it back in and 2 weeks later I had my badge. Just expect numerous individuals looking over vehicles exsesively. Yes or ugh!!! Just make sure that it is screwed on tight so nobody steals the badges.
