Repair manuals recommendaions?

Hi all, I am wanting to get a set of repair manuals for my recently acquired '85 380SL, realize they now come on CD-ROM, but am bewildered by the different ones available out there, as well as the somewhat staggering difference in prices($30-$180!). Any recommendations?

Hi Dan, The price difference is a genuine MB disc or a copy. Your local dealer can order the repair CD for you for around $150 Cdn or you can buy a copy from E-bay or ? Where in the GWN are you,eh?

Manual recommendations

Kyle, I'm in beautiful Ontario. The "low-cost" CD-ROM I found was on a sight called FixItCDs.com, and their ad read as follows (excuse the poor cut and paste job)

Repair Manual on CD-ROM for 107 chassis Mercedes Benz Cars.
Covers Engine, Electrical Trouble Shooting, Owners Manual, Climate Control and Chassis and body.
Mercedes-Benz 107 Chasis Repair Manual Library on CD. Covers all 107 chasis body styles on 1 disc.
Specific chasis covered: 450 SL (1972-1980), 450 SLC (1973-1980), 380 SL (1981-85), 380 SLC (1981), and the 560 SL (1986-1989). The CD’s cover virtually all aspects of the vehicle with step-by-step instructions (w/ illustrations) on how to make repairs. Just pop them in your PC and you have the information to fix most anything. This is an exceptionally comprehensive manual on CD and is the same as the one used by factory certified mechanics at your local Mercedes-Benz dealer. System Requirements: PC: 486 or better, CD-ROM
You will also need Internet Explorer (or Netscape Navigator), Adobe Acrobat Reader, and the Flash / Shockwave Plugins.
Mercedes Benz 107 chassis CDRom Repair Manual
$29.99

Just wondered if anyone had any experience with them. Thnx.

I checked out the site Dan and it looks like they are copies of the official MB CDs . The system requirements are a lot higher than the MB CD. My 124 disc says- Windows 95/98/NT, Pentium 166, 32MB RAM or better,8X CD ROM drive, 16-bit color display at 800 X 600 pixels, SoundBlaster compatible sound card, Internet Web browser 4.0 or above. The disc includes Adobe Acrobat and Macromedia Shockwave. I upgraded Acrobat to the 5.1 version and it works a little faster opening files. For the price it seems like a good deal but you won't know until you try it. The MB CD's are a little confusing to use at first but you'll get the hang of it after a while. Good luck .
