Mein wagen! As you see...my scanner isn't that great. The yashica does give a cool antiquated look though. |

No problem man. That G Wagen is cool.
I am gonna take more pics soon. Experiment with different speeds, the 28MM lens I also have, and I have no clue with the long bellow does lol. I have to try all of these out. I was amazed that most of them actually came out. Not bad for a first time. Woops, I see the two Frank! Forgot about that lol |

Kyle:
Try to find a decent mid-level or pro lab that does prints for a reasonable price. With any luck, you should get better quality prints, with lower contrast, more neutral color casts, and sharper prints. Especially on these pics, mostly I see a lot of shadow, with not a lot of detail in them - generally the result of giving high contrast photos to a chain store. The other alternative is to buy a light table, loupe, and shoot slide film. That's a larger up-front investment (but lower processing costs), and slide film is much less forgiving of exposure variances (course, you'll learn how to read exposure a lot faster! ). -anthony |

Anthony
I think it is my scanner.
In the flesh, the photos aren't grainy at all. Very good contrasts. Not very dark. Actually look very good. I run em through the scanner and I get grainy world war 2 looking photos, which is good under some circumstances, but not for every photo. I don't know what it is. My father has a slide copier for his Yashica, and a bellow, as well as a 28MM lens. I need to experiment with the 28MM for close up shots, that get a large area. My uncle has a 1970's Leica with a light meter built in, he said he could let me use that. Apparently those are very good, as well with another german brand...Hasslebach??(sp) |

As I said in my other thread
The local photo lab decided to f me over by closing 4 minutes early on easter, and therefore not allowing me to get my one hour photos.
Eberhard, I am wondering if you have this brand of mineral water in Germany, or if it is seen a lot. I love it. It's called Gerolsteiner, its my sould beverage in the summer. I gotta go eat dinner. Be back after I eat my ham. |

Post-processing capture is a whole other ball of wax, but you can find a lot of good info on the internet on getting the best scans out of a roll of film (in some cases, as good or better than a top-quality print). Useful stuff, even for a pure digital photographer, but one thing at a time. ... Quote:
Happy shooting, -anthony |

I have a Leica M3 with Leica lenses and really the differences between high end cameras and lower end cameras reveal themselves only with big enlargements. When you blow something up to larger than poster size, the camera qualities really begin to show themselves. I'm no pro though, the camera was given to me so I probably set all the settings to the wrong values.

The big advantage of the Leica is the shutter. No delay by a mirror flaping through the camera, flash synro for all shutter speeds, absolut noiseless camera (nice when you don't want to invade the place you are working with your camera equipment)
The nice thing about the Leica is, that you don't look like a news reporter. You just take your pics and nobody notice you. Same thing with my Mamiya: It is a very friendly, non intrusive camera. Very different from a Nikon with motordrive. Kind regards Eberhard |
