Free Email
Some of the companies that offer free email require personal info such as address, birthdate, full name, etc. Is it safe and would you provide such info? WWW.MAIL.Com is one such company.

well, I guess the moment you sign on the interenet, anybody can get that info about you, so what the heck? Once, I responded to "unsubscribe" post from a porn site. in a month I started getting a regular e-mail with pictures. I deleted that without looking , but my ex-wife's credit card was billed for it. She never used this card on the internet, the account was registered to me, and we paid for the internet (aol) with a different card. When we called the interenet fraud unit, the cop insinuated that I probably ordered these pics. I disputed the charges and never had to pay up, but spent a few interesting days trying to persuade my ex that I really did not do it.
The moral of the story is, it doesn't matter, whether you respond or not- that info is already on the net.

Why do you need to give them correct information? If you feel the info.'s going to be used in ways you don't want, just fill in the fields incorrectly.

yea, you don't need to. Actually, with mail.com, I have an account under the name Marcus Aurelius. Never had a problem, though when people recieve emails from that account, they get confused. "You've got mail, from Marcus Aurelius?!?!?!"

just be careful which free e-mail service you use to avoid getting spammed into oblivion. there are some decent ones out there though that work ok with outlook. one is at www.flashmail.com
but the mailbox only holds 3 megs.
