Finally, some pictures of the TR6

Here are some shots of my '75 TR6 in the garage at the house. Of course I am in the middle of working on it rather than enjoying it!

Nice looking car. I used to have on of those. I had a '72 GT6 for about 12 years. It had 49K miles on it when I sold it and bought a Porsche...I mean a PORCH, as in Back PORCH for the house.
Do you know why the Brits have never made a computer system?

The electrics are absolutely dreadful. Mine develop problems all the time that usually end up fixing themselves: one day a switch won't work, the next it will; sometimes my lights work, sometimes they don't. I guess it goes along with the Brit car territory. I replaced my alternator with a Bosch though. It was probably the best upgrade I've made on this car.

DieselHead:

The Bosch alternator upgrade is a popular choice for a lot of British car owners. When the Lucas ACR took a crap on the TR6 I debated on whether or not to do the Bosch conversion. I know the Bosch is by far the better choice but in keeping with complete originality I decided to go for a rebuilt ACR. So far so good. As for electrical glitches, I have been rather lucky with the TR6 but did have an ignition switch short on the way back from Detroit, Michigan but a quick hotwire and we were on our way again. The main electrical gremlin though on my particular car is that when the tail lamps are on, you hit the brakes and the tail lamp goes out on one side while the brake light illuminates. I did also have some flasher problems but a new relay took care of that. Seeing as how wiring harnesses are pretty inexpensive from The Roadster Factory, I'm going to rewire the car come winter.

Fingers crossed right now that everything remains a-ok for summer!

Wow! A completel rewire would be awesome. That's one thing I'd like to do, but without the know-how, or the time, or the garage space, I'll have to pass or let me mechanic do it. My car is pretty much set for the summer, except for some minor running issues (high idle, slightly rough idle, high fuel consumption) so I'll probably correct only those minor problems and keep the respray and suspension work for next year. I'll post some pics here the next sunny day I get a chance. Thanks for the photos. You have a really good looking car.
