hood protector, how clever!
Okay, I was at a Volvo dealer a couple years ago and the cars were coming with this clear film that ran across the tip of the hood as a protector against chipping, pitting, all that kind of stuff. it is barely noticeable.
Since my hood is being replaced after my wreck and getting new paint, I'd like ot put one of these protectors on it as well. Does anyone know about these and how effective they are? Where to get them? eric ps, i think it is a 3M product. i have Stongard over my eurolights so they don't get pitted or chipped.

In addition to the Chip Guard, there are Stone Guard kits, that are pre-cut clear self adhesive films for most model cars. I've heard that they're best applied by a shop as opposed to DIY.

If I had to repaint my car I would definitely put those clear 3M things on the nose of the car and around the wheel wells (just like they do on the newer cars).
I saw a 1994 E500 w/ those things all around the car and no wonder the car looked so free of those stone chips.
