Question win-XP image save question ???

not that i would EVER be saving images from the "pretty girls" thread, but:

i have a new laptop with win-XP. if i right click a web based image in MS-explorer, i ONLY get the option to save as .BMP (even if the image is .JPG on the web page)

i dont remember it being "locked" to .BMP on the old laptop with win-2K.

is there a setting i can change to get these images back to saving in .JPG?

again, not that i would ever save from pretty girls!

thanks in advance for any suggestions, - bento

Hrm... I just tried downloading the banner at the top (the kleemann one) and it says only BMP, but in my website (follow the link in my signature) you can download in JPG. Maybe it's a setting on mercedesshop.com... I'm personally glad that the pretty girls thread died out, but that's another argument for another time (besides, now that I've said that, someone will bring it back to life).

robert, thanks for posting your link. it provided a good test.

on your site, the pics show up as loading in .JPG format in my action bar in ms-explorer while the page is loading. then, when i right click to "save image as", i only get the option to save as .BMP

im hoping someone here has an answer, so i dont have to em-bare-ass myself in some nerdy computer forum elsewhere. i dont want to suffer a "YOUR WELCOME!" from some geeky "nick burns, your company's computer guy" type!

BTW- MOST of the images im after are vintage motorcycle related.

john, thanks for the link!

have you attempted uncle bill's fix as described? im fairly new to XP, and would like to think that it actually works before the flush.

any idea what/who REALLY caused this malady?

BTW- what kinda bike you have? i remember an earlier post where a member asked about you avitar, and visited the site you linked about the club. cant remember the club name.

i posted a thred earlier where i implemented a manual fan overide switch on my VFR. this is the thread:

typical hi-temp, manual fan switch override implemented. whoo-ho!

2003 Shadow 750ACE.

Things I like:

Super fit and finish.
Cheapest new bike short of a 250.
Lots of aftermarket stuff (I've got some bags and other bits)

Things I don't like:

It is SLLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWW. My last bike was a 150hp beast.

I am seriously considering selling it and buying a CBR919.

a 919
i thought you were like me: an old man

i had a SERIOUS want for a ducati about 10 years ago, thats how i wound up on the VFR, my 2nd V4 honda. also had a hawk 650 (hondas 1st v-twin sportbike), and a 1st gen CBR-600.

this spring ive had the urge again. this time for either a ZRX-1200 or a speed triple. having a hard time keeping the wallet closed.

NEVER thought i would want a green bike. the 1200 is in eddie lawson colors, and im sure youve seen the lime-ass green on the speed triple. im REALLY jonesing over both of those bikes.

be sure to get an insurance quote before committing on a 919!
