Question Which Way for More Head-Room

I've been thinking about selling my W123/ 300CD {COUPE}.
I'm very happy with the car, I enjoy its reliability, classy looks, and rock hard diesel engine. Yet, I find this model lacks the head-room I require (since I'm approaching 6'3'' and still growing), and it also lacks the cargo space I need.
After looking at the the spec's of the three W123 models (Coupe, Saloon & Wagon), I discovered that the wagon model has the greatest height, and obviously the cargo room I need. On the account of this I've been thinking about getting a wagon.
But.........

Does anybody know if the wagon model does indeed have more head room? as I would think since it the tallest of the three W123 models. Or does the wagon have more beefy suspension that lifts the car higher, therefore causing the body to be higher?
I'm also wondering if the W123 TE model can be found in the U.S.? Not that I dislike the diesel engine, but would prefer the acceleration of a gas engine, while keeping the W123 body.
Does anybody recommend I get the W124 wagon instead? I know for a fact that finding a W124/300TE would be much easier, than finding a W123 TE, which I think came out in 230TE and 280TE models.

Thanks for reading, and please reply with any information.

I thought MB had special lower seats for tall people.

I've played with the adjustments on the seats, by pushing the seat all the way back for leg-room and down/back for head room, yet I still have trouble fitting.

As to reply to the post about the S-Class.... I have driven a 1989 420SEL (WOW, so smooth and powerful), and had plenty of space, but I figured that the car would be a major gas gussler. Being a student/part time employed individual it is difficult to scrape up the money just to keep the wheeles rollin'. That is why I was looking at the smaller E-class (Wagon) instead.

Thanks for the replies

To the member whose reply was simply, "Diesel.", I am assuming that you recommand a Diesel powered car since diesel is more economical. Yet, my current Diesel 300CD is an incredible diesel gussler. $20 at the rate of $1.53 per gallon lasts me less that a 6 days tops!, usually I'm running on the reserve by the end of the forth day. But maybe, the newer diesel on the W124 is more efficent over the W123 diesel engine.

Please give me some numbers people (MPG for W124 DIesel or Gas Engines) if you have personal experience!

Thanks
