Does anyone know anything about Doukhabors? I'm sitting here recuperating with a broken arm over the long weekend exploring the net and my imagination is going wild.

I saw a CBC clip about the Doukhabors, the clip isn't complimentary at all, but when I do web searches on the Doukhabors I can't find anything negative at all about them. Its fascinating!

Bill, I've seen many different spellings. Another spelling I've seen is Dukabor.

haven't heard that name in a while, if I remember correctly they used to get naked and burn down a building or two in some sort of religious ceremony.

I believe your right on the canadian thing... again its being a lot of years since I've heard that name, some sort of religious sect that originated from the eastern bloc countries and immigrated to canada, settled in the prairies, and possibly northern ontario as well. i remember in the late 60's they seemed to be in the newspapers regularly for their propensity to burn down buildings whether it was theirs or not (they always did it naked). My memory is a bit fuzzy on the whole issue, but they did cause a bit of a fuss.
