Mr Benz Coffeemaker

What if your coffeeemaker was engineered by Mercedes Benz?

1) You would have to wait a few extra seconds with your finger on the start button before the coffeemaker actually started working - in cold weather you would have to wait even longer

2) The water would be filtered no less than three times before being introduced onto the coffee

3) It would make coffee in half the time of other coffemakers while being comepletely silent and rock-steady at that speed

4) It could be easily dissassembled for it's regularly scheduled cleaning with a tool that was integrated into the design

5) The coffee beans used in the coffeemaker would have to be ground in a proprietary grinder that was only available from the coffee machine dealer at a hugely inflated price

6) Older model Mr Benz coffee makers would still be working efficiently and reliably after 20+ years of service but would suffer from all sorts of strange, low level maladys like intermittently leaking rubber seals and loose handles on the carafes

7) There would be a near-cult following of the older models complete with internet forums that discussed the various merits of the older models and how to repair niggling ailments like the handle falling off of the carafe and the rubber seals deterioriating

8) It could be knocked off of the kitchen counter, full of coffee and not spill a drop or break the carafe but the unit's styling trim would constantly be falling off and no glue known to man would ever succeed in keeping it stuck in place.

A Mercedes-Benz coffeemaker? How would they get it to leak oil?

Numbers

Would the model numbers represent the amount of watts the appliance ran on? e.g. 240D 240 watts Decaffinated
Would some models be faster than others?
When selling the coffee maker should the buyer ask the seller to produce books/records?
Would it require a special outlet in the kitchen to plug into?
Would it have very complicated vacum water heating controls?

All that engineering that went into the coffeemaker would be pointless if you didn't get a 10,000 gallon badge.

It would pleasently clatter at idle while making coffee and not perk.

You'd order coffee grounds/filters from the partshop. For some model years, you'd have to call your "supplier" randy.

Newer models wouldn't even have a port to add water. They would be serviced for life.

Older models would need valve adjustements with special tools.

There would of course be the proud hood ornament out front and a grill you would open to add water.

Yeah, the older ones would leak all kinds of fluid, keeping the countertop waterproofed (as is my garage now).

And.....They would always leave you with a smile, every cup of coffee they made.

what about when the valves of the coffee maker get more worn out and it burns too many coffee grinds?

You could use either diesel fuel or vegatable oil to heat it.
The vacuum system that controlled the heat would leak after 150,000 cups of coffee and would require a certified technician to make a sizable dent in your wallet to diagnose and fix.

Howdy All,
Then there is the model you take camping. The Mercedes Moggers Mug Coffee Maker. Doesn't need electricity. It stands a little higher on its long leggs so you can set it right over the campfire. It is so big that it has its own hand crank winch so you can tip it to pour a mug. When it isn't being used for coffee you can use it for a jackstand so you can service the Mog. Or better yet you can use it as an oil drain can. Did someone say something about the coffee

You know...I might just have one of those...

especially since the Mr. Coffee coffee maker I'm using is the same one I have used heavily since 1983. Yea, it looks like hell, all the teflon on the burner is gone and the clock set buttons kinda stick, making time change a chore. OK, so it takes a little longer to brew a pot now-a-days, but it still cooks me up a pot a day. Tends to leak a little H2O if you pour it in wrong, and once and a while the filter canister hole seems to plug which allows some liquid to flow out the top of the filter.

I'm on my third glass caraffe, but still chugging coffee from the same brewer I have for nearly 20 years (it'll be 20 come next Christmas).

This one must be part Mercedes.

Every time you replaced a deteriorating seal or a bad switch, something else would brake..
You would have to replace numerous expensive parts before you found out what was the defect..

But when it worked, it would make GREAT coffee!

well, youve opened a can of beans with this one...

my pot was manufactured about the time that mr coffee was swinging the big stick in the glorious old ballfields.

no cord or chips, it takes real fire to get the glass top perking like a bobble-head. my other one cup pot is a press, and has only 2 parts: KISS

i tend to like the form and function of the old stuff. when i wear a watch, i enjoy each and every stroke required to wind it.

i cant imagine the caffeine withdrawl i would suffer if my pot had controls designed by the black forest ACC system engineers.

If MB made a coffee maker it would just like the Krups one we have. Functional without being flashy. Efficient. Easy to use and make s agood cuppa everytime.

btw, my wife picked it, as I don't drink coffee. I was surpised when she picked the less-flashy more expensive German one.

The BEST part about the Mr. Benz Coffemaker, is that it's a "babe magnet"

When I go to the coffee bar to pick up women, they are impressed when they see me get a steaming cup of Joe out of my "Mr. Benz"!

But I really want to swap out the stock carafe for the better looking Euro carafe!
