Mercedes Enthusiast Magazine

...........Anyone seen it?? I just took a look at it for the first time. Its a UK publication, seems to have some nice articles. It's sure to be a good read. However, the $9.00 Barnes and Noble price tag scared me off. Anyone know of a better place to get it???

Never found a cheap place to get it.

I have purchased 2 or 3 copies, and only found them at a Barnes and Noble bookstores in San Francisco and Cost Mesa. Most Barnes and Noble don't carry the magazine.

They have a website and it might be cheaper to subscribe.

Here's a link to their website prices are marked in Pounds Sterling:

This is my second year subscription to it. Love the magazine. Plenty of information about MB and all its history. Including its involvement in building figters (ME109) in the WWII, and how that technology becomes today's supercharger in their cars.

Great magazine, but expensive. I loved the article on diesels, a while back, that featured local people from the DC area, including at least one Forum Member.

I've bought every issue. I think on balance it is very good. Neither the photography nor the writing is top-drawer (and nor would I expect it to be given that it is not a mass-circulation publication), but the content is first class. I certainly don't resent the cover price (of course I pay the UK price which equates to about $5.50).

So my subscription is up and it's time for renewal. Good grief, with the current exchange rate it will cost 96 bucks for the year. I know the question has been asked before but can anyone beat 53 pounds per year for the sub?

Thanks.

Read it in the store then put it back on the shelf :)

Who are you? Not our own sflori II resurrected as his former self?

For better photography and a focus on older models, try Classic Mercedes, usually on the rack at Borders.

Thanks.

I wouldn't give you a stale,warm beer for that rag. :(
6 pages of articles & 2000 pages of advertisements.
But, if you like deciphering british expressions, you may like it.

Yep, that's me! My original account was deleted due to some hotmail mixup a couple years ago.

By the way, the Forum member that's featured in the deisel issue is our own late Jim Beek. I still have the last email he sent me a few months before he passed.

JJrodger, I'd disagree, at least some of the time. In the May 2004 issue, LJK Setright wrote a profile of Juan-Manuel Fangio. In it he recalls riding with Fangio, long after his retirement from active racing, in a 450SEL on the track at Silverstone in 1974. Damned if you didn't feel like you were there! (I'm not a big fan of Setright's writing otherwise; the guy never met a long sentence he didn't like, and he often refers to himself in the third person. But this piece was great.)

My only complaint, aside from the high US price, is their heavy emphasis on the newer models, esp. the high-end and AMG ones which I'll never even see, let alone be able to afford. I'd like a little more focus on the older cars.

They carry it at the B&N store in Ventura, CA. It is a great magazine, I'll wait for the dollar to get stronger and then subscribe :D

I've been a subscriber for over 2 years now. I'll read anything that has to do with MB.

Thats more than I can say for Prestige Mag. Most us received 1 or 2 issues and then they dissapeared
