deadly encounter between Eclipse and E46 M3

I do not know the fine details of what exactly went on, but these two guys in a modified Eclipse and a video camera seem to be driving around, and encountered this "Smurf blue" E46 M3...the Eclipse gets a jump on the M3 at the light and is goin' through the gears, when all of a sudden...BOOM! the engine explodes! They captured it in two videos...

Video #1
Video #2

The eclipse driver is actually quite cool about it...

He did leave that M3 as if it was standing still though:eek:

Cool Video :D :D :D

What is ironic about the entire thing is that the E46 M3 is the one famous for the "exploding engine" problem...

...I also found the video kinda funny...especially in the second part where they were counting off pieces of their engine block :p

Like a chump...hey...like a chump...hey...

Yeah, I saw that video before. I wonder who actually owns the Eclipse...;)

Tracy - I hadn't noticed the baggy or the nail before, that's funny...can't tell what's in the baggy, but the nail thing is funny. Just roll a bloody $100 up will ya? It worked for Scarface...:D

If you noticed, the M3 driver seems like some middle-aged suit wearing dude...i.e. probably just out enjoying his fine investment. The M3 doesn't even bother trying to race these schmeds. C'mon, an Eclipse vs. a new M3??? Please. 333 strong German horses...the kind that don't explode into little horsey bits when you get them gallopin'...

Around here I see plenty of M3's driven by high schoolers who somehow convinced Mom and Dad...

Snibble 06-19-2003 03:50 PM

I don't know.. but did anyone hear him say "my dad is going to kill me" towards the end of the 1st video?

The shifting gives me a woody every time:D Honestly I wake up at night and go for a ride just to hear it. Unfortunately Adolf Coors will not allow me this evening:mad:

Regardless if the Eclipse is (was) faster, or if the M3 was not really trying to race the Eclipse, I think it is safe to say that the majority of us would rather be riding in that M3.

Agreed M3 is mo betta.

That sandwich baggie has to contain the green. What else would somebody be holding between their legs in the car. Kid must have just got the car, cuz he says now hears my transmission test. Daddy probably bought it for him because he definitely says, "my parents are gonna kill me."

You know its sad because I used to do things almost this stupid when I was that age (sans the drugs). Luckily noone trusted me with 30K of machinery.

Dude your M3 is slow....Dude M3's are so slow
Dude your Eclipse is plastic... Dont even bother pulling the engine apart just pull the damn thing out  I love ricers so much they make me smile :D
The thing about the M3 engine is if the guy did blow it BMW extended the warrenty on all the engines

Fortunate for me the only car I ever was given was an '83 Ford Escort! Though I did get it airborne once! :D
