Wasn't there a classic drummer by the name of Buddy Rich?
Also, I think the drummer from the band RUSH is pretty talented. I've always appreciated the way Phil Collins had a way of playing the drums almost like an instrument. But I'm no drummer........ just a constant finger tapper!! |

Howdy Stefano,
I watched Buddy Rich a number of times on tv and he could pound the drums real hard. Long before Buddy was a real talent on the drums by the name of Gene Krupa (?¿Sp). Also in the sixties Jimi Hendrix had a drummer that was real good and I can't remember his name.

Pete Thomas - a consumate professional, always dependable, all around great player.
Other than that, it's all about Keith Moon and Ginger Baker.

Ummm Danny Carey? Who's he? Easily one of the most talented and dedicated musicians to the art of drumming/percussion...if drums interest you at all, you must see him live.
Can't believe I haven't heard Terry Bozio's name mentioned...also David Garibaldi is amazing in the rock world Regards, - Ryan ametuer tapper of things that make noise

Dave Clark (Bits and Pieces ) Ringo (he was just fun to watch) Ginger Baker (it was better when you didn't watch him) John Bonham (never heard anyone with that sense of rythym before or since) Keith Moon (man I would have hated to have been one of his drums!!) A host of others from that era Alex Van Halen and Neal Pert (Rush, and he's also the songwriter) Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake and Palmer) , Prairie Prince (The Tubes) The drummer for Offspring and Todd Roper (Cake, don't ask me why) |

Rush drummer Neil Pert , did have one of the largest ''sets'' in rock . It included - double bass kick drums , a snare drum , twenty-one mounted toms , four floor toms , four tympani drums (adjustable pitch) , full set of chimes , full set of temple blocks , two gongs , and eighteen assorted cymbals (splash to symphonic crash) . Favorite performance - Tommy Lees ''spinning drum cage solo'' . I learned percussion instruments in high school - marching band and symphonic orchestra . I learned to play a drumset on my own and played in a rock band ''Sizzle'' my last two years of high school and first two years of college . My band teacher told us from the start '' You are born a drummer . I can't make you one . So you either have the coordination or not . It's not like playing the saxaphone''. Joke I heard a long time ago - Guitar player says ''Yea , our group has four musicians and a drummer''. My favorite drummer - Keith Moon of ''The Who''.
