Check out the door and A-pillar. I bet the door opens and closes. It's tough to see, but even from this angle you can tell the passenger cell is pretty intact, especially considering the incredible impact that caused this damage.

Remember not to confuse body/chassis damage with the impact in question. Crumple zones, designed in shear parts and other inertia absorbtion makes modern cars look like they've been hit with a Tomahawk cruise missile when the actual impact was less dramatic.

Exactly. The front clip of the SL did it's job. It absorbed the impact and left the passenger cell intact. Still, the impact was relatively severe in this case, compared to some moderate impact damage to this model that I've seen.

On that first picture of the S-Class you can see blood on the ground. I wonder if that person actually survived the crash?

That's a CL, not an S sedan. You can see the driver's seat looking pretty much intact, with the seatbelt retracted; either the guy wasn't wearing it (stupid) or he was in a condition to unclip it and get out - they didn't have to cut him out.

It looks like they had to cut him out. The door is missing and it doesn't look like that happened in the accident? You should be able to see SOME trace of a door.

Half the 1/4 panel looks to be cut off also. Someone was in there with a chop saw. My bet is that the driver didn't survive that one.
